Welcome to the sharpest place on the internet! Looks like a few sold on ebay recently. Has a little value, cool blade
Ebay search gerber+that model # and it may help shed some more info.

Found one on sale at eBay but walnut handle is checked as in handgun or rifle stock. No indication how old it is

You are correct! This listing shows it as a model number, so I just assumed...

An honest, and common mistake. Gerber put their zip code (97223) on several different models of their knives.
