Always been a knife guy but never had money to buy them until I got out of college. These are what I have so far

The delica is my favorite EDC knife. The vg10 just plain works better for me than the aus8 of the sog and CS voyager. I do love carrying the s30v blur when outside of work. My next knife is probably going to be an endura, no maybe a PM2 err kershaw cryo or what about a buck vantage pro. Maybe a zt 0560. This is going to get out of hand really fast.

Elgreco,
Welcome to the the Forum. You have some nice knives, especially for the guy without money.
Good luck

That's a nice useful collection you have there. If you want a step up in quality and construction I think you should take a hard look at some of the newer ZT's ( like the 551/550 and 561/560) as well as some of their more classic models like the 300 and 200. Also Kershaw's new Speedform in Elmax is a great looking lighter use EDC knife that would ride quite nicely in the pocket.

I've been lusting over the ZT560 for a while.

I love my PM2, I really do not like my Buck Vantage. The Cryo is interesting but who knows when it will ever hit the stores.

Welcome and nice start...hope the journey to finding knives that you like, is a memorable one...

What knife sharpener do you guys recommend for someone who hasn't done it before? I've been looking at the spyderco sharpmaker.

Sharpmaker, hands down, and honestly it isn't even close. Pick up some ultra fine rods for it and you'll be able to get your knives much sharper than they come from the factory. Of course you are probably going to want to learn how to freehand eventually but in terms of a easy to use, affordable, reliable sharpening system, the sharpmaker is very difficult to beat.

+1 to Buck Vantage Pro. Sweet EDC knife, and great value too. If you like S30V, it's real hard to find a better value at $50-$55. I've had it since it first came out, and likeability hasn't budged a bit.

I just bought a buck vantage select paperstone small. I want to see what bucks 420hc is like. It seems like it's a decent steel from what i am reading.

Those are all fine knives and make the basis for a nice collection. What impresses me most about your choices is that they are all very good performers in their own right, and represent great value and build quality.

What a great welcome statement. I wish I had that reception when I first posted not too long ago :p.
And to add on, my first start at knife collecting was a lot more shoddy than the OP's. I remember a Gerber Fatty (nice shape, subpar materials), a Fury tanto fixed blade that snapped on its 2nd outing and a SOG Flash II.
To the point, the SOG Flash II was the only one that lasted.

Well let me remedy the oversight despite the fact that you have outgrown rookie status....happy to have you aboard, sir!!

My addiction has been shifting from $10-$20, then to $30-$60, $100, $150 and now it's at $260 (ordered a ZT 0561). I'm horrified of the day I'll drop major $400+ for a CRK, Hinderer, Anso, etc.

I no longer have a Buck in my collection, but I almost bought that Buck Bait Knife to fill that spot. Then I saw that Cold Steel Roach Belly, lol.
