Here is my first attempt at handle making for a folder. With the scales being below the frame edge it was difficult, but I had an old hatchet handle laying around and I could not find the piece of black walnut I wanted to use. I made this using a 2x42 belt sander to remove wood and mostly flatten the wood and then the rest was done with a dremel and hand sanding. The stain was russet feiblings leather dye. I think it came out good but the sides do not match perfectly and the color did not come out the same. But have a look and be gentle, lol. I also have to counter sink the scales for the screw heads but that will be later.

Very nice, I like that the scales don't match. Counter sink the holes and great job

Looks great. I'm glad you under took the project. You learned something. I don't know if I would counter sink the screws. I'd have to hold it in hand to determine. I would give it a coat of boiled linseed oil. Thanks for the photos, DM

You made that knife yours!!:thumbup::thumbup:

Looks like an excellent piece of work to me. I like that you used something you had laying around and gave it new life.

Thanks for the replies, now it has my brain working for the next thing. As far as counter sinking it feels fine in the hand, almost like little grip points.

That's what I thought it would feel like. Like it gives you more contact and feel or comfort during use. DM
