Went for a walk today and happened across a hobo asleep under a bridge.
Poked him with the walking stick first to make sure he was alive (lot of overdose deaths around here), then gave him a muffin and a Gatorade (dead people don't need food, but living people seem to like it).

Had these items with me:

Spyderco Civilian, Cold Steel Voyager XL (old style), and the spiked XL Carbon Fiber Monkey Knuckles (ABS with added carbon fiber in the mix).
Hence forth they shall be classified as Charity Knives and Good Will Knuckles. :)

First, I am not sure of the point of your post?

Second - brass knuckles (even if they are ABS/carbon fiber which kinda, sorta skirts the Canadian law) COULD be considered prohibited weapons in Canada. I suspect you don't have a very legitimate reason for walking around with them (hint - if you say "self defence", go directly to jail - don't pass go - go directly to jail). Don't make me have to come and find you. ;)

Third - thank you for helping someone less fortunate.

Actually perfectly legal to own; only metal is prohibited. :)
They are even made right here in Ontario.

Carrying depends on intended use; weapon/defense is not allowed, but photo shoot is fine.
Having a camera with you is always a good idea. ;)

Just speaking from a LEO perspective - ownership is fine. Carrying it is COMPLETELY different. Yes, I know that only METAL knuckles are defined as prohibited weapons in Canada (I edited my initial post, for clarity). But you are walking a fine line by carrying it in public places.

As LEO, that would be a tough one if your reason for carrying it, is so you can take pictures of it. I'm pretty sure you would be asking for a night's stay in the local jail while you wait for a judge to make the call on that one, especially if you are found with it under a bridge with the homeless people.........circumstance plays a very big role in who gets a ride in the back seat. Please be careful. :)

Yeah, it's not a normal carry item. Have had to explain various items to LEO in past, but it's always a crap shoot.
The better the camera, the better the explanation works. Having a dedicated photographer with you is best.

Was part of a Purge themed photo shoot; my outfit involved a deactivated rifle and body armour. The police had to come check it out but were cool enough. They just said to carry the rifle in a bag when going from one location to another, which seemed reasonable enough. :)

When the local authorities know of you as a harmless weirdo, it makes things go better. :D

Just to clarify....you didn't give away the knives or plastic knuckles, you just renamed them for giving a bum a muffin and sugar water (which I'll say was a kind thing to do)? Is that the gist of it?

Basically.
Rather than being "tactical", since I don't really use them for "tactical" things, whatever that might mean.
On a previous, larger charity mission when a bunch of us were handing out a lot of stuff (including many sleeping bags, food, clothes, etc.) I did use one of my knives (a Spyderco Military) to cut open some plastic bags full of supplies that were a pain to untie, especially with cold fingers due to it being winter.

Today was more of just go for a walk and take some photos by the river or if I found a really cool tree. I usually bring some extra water, Gatorade and sometimes a little food because we have so many homeless around here now. The police have to move them from time to time (otherwise you get huge encampments), so you never know exactly where they will be, but if you go walking much you'll come across someone.

The hobos around here usually have their own knife or axe anyway, so they wouldn't need mine. ;)

Not a small knife this homeless guy had on the bus.

Hoboes, tramps and bums are generally regarded as related, but distinct: a hobo travels and is willing to work; a tramp travels, but avoids work if possible; and a bum neither travels nor works.

And a "sovereign citizen"...always traveling, and never driving nor arriving. 🤣

This is not really a great fit for GKD...so we'll leave it here.
