New to the forum and I must say there is alot of valuable info here. I was in the market for a new hunting knife. While I have alot of knives I really didn't have something that completely met my needs. After a weeks worth of searching thru various internet posts and talking to people I know I decided on:

Rat Cutlery RC3 Plain Edge OD Green Powdered Coating with Orange G-10 Handle

This was 83.95 from Knifeworks and I feel was a reasonable price. I will use this for basic field tasks up to deer processing. I was really looking at the Izula but felt it was a hair too small, I have larger hands. My only concern is the handles, although textured, may be a tad slick if used when wet. However, if you ever gutted a deer after nightfall in the woods and set down your knife, finding it can be a chore. That is the reason I opted for the Orange handles.

hi, and welcome to the forum. i've got the rc3 with the orange g10 handles and grip is fine when wet really not slippery. sure holds a great edge.

enjoy

I really want an rc-3 bad. It would be a much tougher knife compared to my carry knife for that size now benchmade folding griptillian. KNIFEABILITY-a must for all humans

Thats the same folder I had when I got stranded with a friend. It was near useless except I could scrape, and cut small things.

I sure am glad he had his Rat Cut Co knives (I know its esee now), I didnt think I'd be able to get my Esee or rat cu co if they are older stock; this soon. But sold my tools on craigslist, ganna put the $ into knives. As well a few more items I really need/want.

The uses of small rope or I think its called paracord? Amaze me :D I need to get a pack of later today :D

The OD RC3 with G10 orange I do not own but would think it would make a ideal hunting, field dressing knife, more so then any other RC-3,IMO.

i really like the RC-3, have two of 'em. one in linen, and a rat pack knife in orange G-10. it's pretty grippy when wet. the izula's on me daily though. the handle on the izula is just a bit small for me when it's naked. i keep mine wrapped, and it's perfect. i think you should try it out. you could always resell it if it's not for you.

yeah i agree that the orange G10 is nice and grippy, i have an ESEE-3 with the black blade and the orange G10, great knife and VERY sharp.

RC-3 makes a great hunting knife. I've used mine the past two deer seasons and it has performed very well. My RC-3 is the blaze/od combo and the g-10 handles are very secure when bloody. Good choice!

This statement confuses me. Are you saying your Grip was useless:confused: In what sense? I EDC a full-size Grip everyday and have used it everywhere from the bush to the city.

G10 handles work well on a RC-3 for deer both in the field and home processing. Easy clean up as well. Great choice.
