How about such blade that, it is like butterfly knife but only one bar turns to cover edge.
And the other side is as full-tongue knife handle. I think it easy to add clip and one-hand-open-close locking system.
It is large and tough as fixed blade.

What is advantage of such knife? (I have said about knives such that it is full-tongue, but cover and open edge as folder.)
Think about why tactical knife is one-hand-open-close folder? Main porpose is cut rope in hard condition. Fixed blade knife is tough and fast to drow, but hard to put back in hard condition.
As one-hand-open-close folders are used, but if there is fixed but sheathless; one-hand-open-close(cover)? It is much more tough.
Yes, such fixed blade knife is not small as folder, but why it should be small? only for conceald carry, illegal in most contry.

Hmmmm.... I'm not following. Maybe a sketch would help.

As I envison this suggestion, it would not fold in half. One of the advantages of any folding knife is that when folded it is just a bit over half the length it is when open. This makes it easier and more convenient to carry.

I also don't understand what's going to keep this proposed design as I understand it closed. On a butterfly knife, the two handles both pivot and then they lock to each other either open or closed. When you have one handle fixed in the open position, then when you open the other handle to expose the edge, the moving handle can latch to the fixed handle just as a butterfly knife does. But, when the movable handle is covering the blade, what does it latch to? What holds the knife closed?

A conventional butterfly knife locks shut for safe carry completely covering the blade (which allows for totally safe carry even of double-edged blades). A conventional butterfly then locks open almost as strongly as a fixed-blade knife. Lock failures, which are possible on every other kind of folding knife, are unheard of on well-built butterfly knives.

The idea of a full-tang knife with an attached cover that borrows from the butterfly design is a good idea.

I think that design is in production already. Cold steel calls it the "TRI-POINT". Is that what you are talking about???

Gollnick,
Yes,it is not fold in half size.I can understand advantages of compact, but to think about weakness.
To make it true "tough and one-hand-open-close as folder", I think it good.

How to lock moving handle CLOSED position,I think some way; some tentioned small claw in moving handle fit in blade's depression. It is good tention that not break natural power but breakable on finger touch.

AncientSUL,
TRY-POINT? What's? I could not find in Coldsteel.com.
You said about Triple Action Folders? IF so,it is no.
Imagine Full-tongue fixed blade knife, but edgeside harf of grip turn as buttafly, but other side is still full-tongue.
