i've seen a few of these at the local flea market and keep tellin myself i need to buy one because the 8 or 10 bucks it cost isn't enough to fret over but i'm not sure still and was wondering if anyone had one of these, and what they think of them.

thanks
sam

itz 8 bux sam.......

your right, i think i might just have over thought that this weekend because i didn't buy it, and have kinda kicked myself. thank you punisher for pointin that out haha, i'm gonna buy one next weekend when th flea market is open again.

I think you can get it cheaper online. I have one. Decent cheap knife. Certainly worth a sandwich's worth of dough.

For about twice that you could get a decent Case sodbuster, too though. (Better steel and street cred) :)

It's an Imiperial though. Make sure you have an $8 dollar specimen before handing over your money!

i have several case sodbusters, and to be honest i just love sodbusters and thought eh what the heck i'll ask about this one because it could just be a cheap beater addition to collection of busters.

thanks

The Case sodbuster, in particular, can often be found at way below the typical 'street price', or retail. It's one of those knives that some folks might try, and decide it's not for them (to each his own), and then let it go for cheap online. One of my favorite users is a large Case soddie (2138SS), ordinarily priced around $25 (give or take), that I found on a certain auction site for $13. So, you might find a similar deal (or even better) on a small one, if you're looking for it.

i'm always looking for one, i just love these "goofy" lookin as my wife calls em, knives. they are just perfect for my needs and fit my hand so well it's not even funny. this may be the perfect time to get over my fear of ordering a knife without seeing it in person first, as they are relatively cheap as things go.

thanks

That's the thing. These knives are pretty simple in design and construction. There's not much risk to buying one sight unseen. In the case of the one I bought, it was sort of a double win for me. Of all the production knives I've ever bought, no matter the price, this particular one had a virtually perfect edge bevel on it. I've never felt the need to re-do it (that's getting to be pretty unusual, for me :p). All I've ever done is strop it, it's a razor. Money well spent, even for a 'cheap' knife at only $13.

I have a couple of the new Taylor line knives, they're Just OK. I'd buy a Rough Rider soddy if I were you.

Regards

Robin

For $8, buy it and try to break it. If it doesn't break, it was worth the $8

Good deal or not---probably taxes local buy or shipping charges if bought online.

RR Sodbuster. Bone handles, linerlock, matchstrike nick, inexpensive.

I just got an Imperial Sodbuster (IPM22Y) last week online for less than $8. I really like it...but then again I do like Imperials to start with. I'm happy with this knife.

Bumping a topic from two years ago... *sigh*

Could be worse though, at least it's an interesting topic. ;)

From what I've seen the new Chinese Imperial knives are only OK, maybe worth the $8 to carry something lose-able and lend-able. I wouldn't pay $8 for one of the previous Ireland-made Imperial knives though.
