I probably have forgot or missed it if this has been discussed before, but today at Wal-Mart, I noticed a blister packages 371 Stockman, that stood out because my local WM still has a knife counter and doesn't normally have blister packaged Bucks. THe lady at the counter told me it came in with a box of regular Bucks in boxes, just this one and they were not sure why they got it.

It's 2009 371 with a "BUCK" shield rather than the hammer and bolt one.

Hadn't seen it before, so I assume it's fairly recent for 2009?

Shown here with a 2005 model. (top)

Hi BCCL,

I don't recall anyone pointing this out here. However, looking at the 08 & 09 dealer catalogs shows this change. 08 still has the hammer & bolt. 09 has the word BUCK for the china made 300 series slippy's.

I noticed it on the canoes I see trolling the bay but noticed them at Cabelas a couple weeks ago that it was spreading.

That was the first thing I checked when I got home, was my new Amber Bone Canoe (which has a 2007 tang stamp) and it had the hammer/bolt.

Will check Ebay, would kinda like a bone handle with this "BUCK" shield.

To my recolectlion, I have only seen it on the wood-but couldnt swear to it.
Interesting that they would make a plate change now since I thought they were coming back to the States or at least leaving China.

Sorry for the bad picture, but it's already dark out.

I just noticed something else different on this newer 2009 371.

The brass liners have been replaced with stainless steel ones.

They are not integral with the bolsters like on the USA made 301, but they have been changed from brass to steel.

The more I look at this new shield, the more I like it.

I could seriously dig this shield on the classic black delrin 301!!!!! :D

I saw this shield on one of the Bass Pro red wood handled Bucks. Pretty cool me thinks.
