Hi everydody ! :D
I'm new in this forum so let's have a little presentation : my name's Vivien, i'm a little french from Strasbourg (east...), who study Biology and who's really interested by the "knife world".
I looking for a Busse knife (a Meaner Street...) from the company store website, but i'm hesitating between Satin and Double-Cut Finish ...
I guess one is shiny and the other one matte but which one is the more scratch resistant ?
thanks in advance for your answers ! :)
Vivien

I would say that Double Cut (DCBB) is probably more scratch resistent. At least it won't show scratches as readily as the satin. The satin is kind of pretty when it gets some scratches in it. :D You can't go wrong either way. Welcome to the forums. Don't hesitate to ask questions. Most of these guys around here are pretty helpful. :D

Double cut is nearly indestructible. I've never seen such a scratch resistant finish..

I just (3 weeks ago) bought a MrS in the satin finish. I think you won't regret it. It can be touched up with a little judicious application of sandpaper.

Welcome Vivien! Whatever finish you end up going with, I'm sure you'll love the Meaner. You'll have to redefine what you think a "small" knife can do

Thanks to all of us !!!
In fact i'm hesitating between 2 knives :
-A Meaner Street with Double-Cut Finish and Black Canvas Micarta.
-An other Meaner Street but this one is Limited Edition with Satin Finish and Tiger Stripe Micarta
Of course it's interesting to have a limited edition but it's 70$ more and i'm a little afraid of the possibility of "lost during the shipping" because the insurance will only give me 100$ back (and because i'm student and receive no salary, it represent a lot of money...)
Anyway, thanks to all of you for your advices : i really appreciate ! :)

Buy the more affordable one now, and get a different handle and finish combination next time the knife is available. There is no way you are only going to own one Busse.

He's right. I got my MrS less than 3 weeks ago and I have alredy ordered my next Busse. I couldn't help it, I even dream about them. The more you learn about them, the more it makes sense. I've lost interest in other knives that were important to me in the past. We'll probably end up where the solution to the satin or double cut dilemma is to own both. Good luck and welcome.

Seconded. I bought the MrS with the assumption that it was "just to test it out". I have already bought one of the NO-e models from Shomer-Tec and am plotting my next. I wonder what varieties of FSH Skunk bought for the Company Store?

I might add that the Rat Daddy the boys over at SwampRat have cooked up looks like an interesting piece....
