New iPhone user. Any tips or hints?

My employer issued me an iPhone, and since my personal phone is an Android, I’m looking for tips and hints.
Is there a good place for ringtones without having to spend a bunch at the iTunes store?
I have my business apps all downloaded, except for an Office program. I have Kingsoft Office on my Android, but it doesn’t look like it is availablefor the iPhone. I have Quickoffice Pro HD on my iPad, and it is OK. Can I get this on the iPhone without having to pay again?
Thanks for any advice.

For the Quickoffice Pro HD question, yes you can. You had to have used an iTunes account to buy that, do you remember the user/pass?
If so, sign in on your iPhone, and download the app again. It should give you a little pop up asking to download again for free.

As far as ringtones and apps go, I think the iPhone is limited to what is available on iTunes.

Not ringtone related, but here are two things that I learned only recently about my iphone:

Hold the home button and press the sleep button to take a screen shot
If you hold the phone sideways like a camera you can use the up volume button to take a picture

Make sure to close any apps youre not using that were previously opened by double clicking the button and closing them. Seems to save a lot of battery.

Some random App info:
Install "AppsGoneFree", it gives you access to a daily list of apps that are free for a very limited time (usually a day or two, sometimes a bit longer).
There's also AppTracker which allows you to add apps to your wish list and it notifies you when those apps have upgrades or go on sale.
Tonido allows you to access your pc remotely (including networked/NAS drives) but the pc needs to be on.
As for the MS Office access I've been using Documents to Go since my Handspring Visor days. It allows you to edit, create, etc Office docs from you iOS device.
Xmarks (formerly Foxmarks IIRC) allows you to sync and access your pc bookmarks from Firefox and I believe most other browser bookmarks. They were bought over by LastPass which I'm thinking of buying for Password Management. They do a bundle offer of $20/pr but each is available separately for $12/yr I believe.
I can list a ton more apps but don't want to bore you unless there's something specific you're looking for.

You can cut your own ringtones for the iPhone, its easy. http://osxdaily.com/2009/08/08/make-your-own-custom-iphone-ringtone-for-free/

Other than that the best advice I can give is jailbreak if it is available. If you are on 6.1.3 you will be out of luck until 7 is released. I love the freedom of the jailbreak.

Mike G,
Please do not listen to this. If it's not your iPhone, do not jailbreak it.
It voids the warranty, and there are plenty of problems that an uninformed person could run into.
If it was your iPhone, then hell yeah. I'd go as far as to take you every step of the way.
But since it belongs to your employer, please, DO NOT JAILBREAK IT

You realize all it takes to undo a Jailbreak is a restore in iTunes right? Its not as bad as rooting an android device. Plus any new iPhone will come with 6.1.3. It may void the warranty if sent in jailbroken, but if you are smart enough to do a system restore, you are good to go. I have jailbroken all major steps on the iPhone and have never run into a problem. Just do the research and know what not to screw up. Its very simple.

Power button along with Home button takes a screenshot and saves it to your gallery.

Suggest downloading the Apps Gone Free app. A lot of times there are games but there sometimes you'll get awesome productivity apps. It's a good app for work and/or play!

I jailbroke my iPhone once. I liked some of the new features I was then able to install, but the glitches and problems far outweighed the benefits. No more jailbreking for me. Part of the beauty of the iPhone is it's stability and reliability. Jailbreaking ends all that.

This can happen with some of the tweaks. I just run a few stable ones along with a system file browser. Never had any problems with my jailbreaks. The newest Evasion Jailbreak has bee the best and easiest one so far!

Thanks, everyone.

It is the 4S, running the latest update. It updated as soon as I took it out of the box and turned it on. I may attempt to jailbreak it once the warranty is up.

I used a different login for the phone than I have for my iPad. I signed out, and signed in the phone with my iPad I.D., and the only app I have on my iPad that didn't show up in the phone list is the Quickoffice Pro HD. The phone wants me to buy this app again.

I'm downloading the Apps Gone free as I type, and I'll also get the Documents to Go app until I figure out how to get the Quickoffice without paying again.

Hi Mike, there are a few other apps I got recently from Apps Gone Free that may work as substitutes for DocsToGo and QuickOffce. Check out FileApp Pro, iFile Browser, Smart Office 2, and PDF Expert. Not sure if they're still free and I haven't played around with them all yet/much, but I believe some of them work with MS Office files.
