New iPod Touch?

Anyone planning to get it? After reading the specs, it makes me hate my generation 1 iTouch... I might sell mine to fund the new one.

I have one and it goes everywhere with me. But I have found that the 14gig is not big enough for music, photos and video/movies. Mine is full of music and I would like more space so I can put a movie or 2 in but alas no way. I am hoping that Apple bring out a 50 or 80 gig version soon.....
Apart from that it works great...

I have looked at them as well, I am still using a plain old 1st generation I-Pod and have no complaints but would like to upgrade. However I have invested in accessories for mine such as a boombox ($300), car system ($189), home alarm clock system ($129) plus some misc accessories, will the new Touch work with them or do I have to start over? I assume the money I have invested in music will transfer to the Touch, (close to 2000 songs from the I-Tunes store) but I hate to have to rebuy everything else.

Yeah everything but maybe not the boombox, what brand is it? Some of them will sell you the adapter, if yours is that type where you "dock" it on the base and it has interchangeable plastic peace around the ipod plug.

yes everything should work as long as it uses either the dock or audio output plug for the sound/power.

the old ipods had a audio output with an additional connection slot, and that wont work.

I just orderd a 16GB Touch. I was going to go full bore and get the 32GB but i couldn't justify the cost of $400 when I also have an 80GB Ipod Classic. The Touch will be used to mainly surf the net, email, and store movies. maybe the occassional Genius playlist or two. My Ipod stores only music.

I got one, love being able to hop on to a hot spot and surf. Not to mention that the multi-touch interface is just super cool.

My friend is thinking of buying my Gen 1, so ill have enough cash to buy the new one. I like the speaker and microphone feature they added, thats the main selling point for me.

That would be my primary motive for buying one...is it reasonably fast surfing?

Considering it’s a portable device its extremely fast. Not to mention safari is very, very smooth, really the best portable browser on the market today.

Thanks, more money flying from the wallet :D

Few people are gonna call it cheap. And if all you want is a dedicated music player they’re better options out there. But as far as all-round media devices go the Touch cant be beat.

It's amazing to watch iPod technology. I have a 3rd Generation 40GB iPod. Works great (battery life is cruddy, but oh well), but it's the size of a pack of cigarettes, weighs a lot, and has a text-only "black and white" LCD screen with the scrollwheel. The new iPod "classic" is 120GB (!!!) and costs $249. Mine would have cost $500 originally! Luckily I got mine on trade, but it's amazing to see how much better the current one is, at 1/2 the price.

I have an older one that I bought refurbished, the thing is like a mini notebook computer. You don't have to take it out separately at the airport (at least I don't, and it hasn't been a problem) like you do a notebook, which is a minor PITA for me. It holds music, videos, pictures, surfs the web @ wifi hot spots, and can download a ton of decent games for decent prices. Family members think that it was a waste of money....but, then again, they borrow it non stop to check email on vacation, play games in the car, watch videos, and so on, so I think it was a good purchase :)
