After thinking about it, there are two things that Spyderco does not have:

1. a frame lock (after all, Reeve, Benchmade, and CRKT all have frame/integral locks, and now Outdoor Edge is doing one)

2. something marketed specifically as a small gent's knife (though some come very close--micarta Calypso, Mouse, the fancy Walker, etc)

So how about combining them? How about a smaller Lum Chinese folder with a frame lock--same shape and construction, just shrink it?

Spyderco already has a knife coming that will have the integral "linerlocks" beat -- an integral compression lock. See the threads with "ATR" in the title.

Hi Summerland. Intersting observations. I have consulted with Chris on making a Chris Reeve Spyderco Frame lock. At the time he wasn't interested, but I have always reserved that spot for him should he decide to change his mind.

As Carlos mentioned, The ATR does offer grater simplicity and greater strength that the Frame lock by a considrable anmount.

Regarding a gents piece, check out the Solo. Solo is a Spyderco owned brand available through the Outlet store.

The Dyad Jr makes a nice gent piece.

Regarding the Lum Chinese, I'd like to see how the model is received.
