Some of you might remember I have been looking for a sheath to carry my Izula in my rear pocket. I use it as an every day carry knife however I prefer to keep the knife in my rear pocket and not on my belt.

After a lot of research I decided to go with Martin Swinkels as he is already making me a sheath for my RC-4. The request was simple. A sheath that would slip into my rear pocket exposing as little of the handle as possible and that I didn't mind removing the entire sheath to remove the knife. It also had to be as slim as possible for comfort.

Here are the photos of the finished product. I love his work.

EDIT: I've included pictures of the RC-4 Sheath which I plan to carry as my woods and hunting knife in the horizontal position. It's the RC-4 sheath I saw first when I knew I had to have one of Martin's sheaths.

I've also included some pictures of the Izula. I've been messing around with it. Stripped the coating and polished for a few hours. Then I gave it a mustard bath over night. Since then I continue to sharpen on the mouse pad.

Very nice. It seems that he could make something similar for front pocket use as well.

That is very cool! Is it comfortable? Does the sheath come out of your pocket when you draw the knife?

We'll have to ask Martin if he has sat on it yet to find out if it's comfortable or not as I won't have the sheath(s) for another month or so. He is still finishing the RC-4 Sheath and they will be shipped together. With regard to sheath coming out of the pocket when the knife is drawn. We knew going in that to be the case. With the knife riding so low in the pocket the sheath is going to have to be removed in oder to draw the knife.

That was fine with me as that's what I do now.

Yeah, Kydex inside of leather. I can't wait for it to arrive. I have been messing around with my Izula. I spent a few hours last night playing around with a mouse pad and sand paper. I then stripped the coating and used some 800 grit sand paper to polish it up. Then I left it in a mustard bath all night. I think it looks great. It should go well with the new sheath.

Very nice work there on that sheath! I've found a nice leather-worker who has done a couple custom flashlight holsters I have. Qarawol on FNF does superb work, and does some knife sheaths too. After seeing your sheath, I might have to have him make me something for my Izula.

Mike,
your e-mail seems dead.. PM'd you.. your sheaths are ready!!

About sitting on an ass-pocketed Izula...
There are too many variables here to state anything about how comfortable it is. It depends on the pants, the pocket, the chair, and how you sit.. The ass pocket may not be the ideal place to house the Izula all the time..
