Here's some pics of a new J.W.Smith PT-1 I just got from John. Blade steel is S30V. Bolsters & backstrap are stainless Damascus. Scales are from some burled ironwood I had laying around the house.

His fit and finish is remarkable and this thing opens like butter.

Enjoy the pics friends.

That is probably one of the nicest Smith's I have seen to date, very classy looking. The Ironwood goes great with the SD bolsters and backstrap....enjoy it.:)

Yup.., that's a looker for sure!! Beautiful burl!

John is one of those makers that seems to be able to make everything, from the tough Tacticals to the Art knives. But, it's knives like this the inbetween that really gets my interest. This one is a beauty, and some would say too pretty to use, but you know that this is as tough as any of his more tactical looking knives. JW Smith, is as good as it gets.

Congratz on your new knife.

BEE-YOO-TO-FULL! That is plain gorgeous and it makes me want to go with ironwood even more. Also makes me glad I went ahead and got the steel backspacer. What are the spec's on that knife steve? Let me know first......okay.;) :D  :)

Thanks for looking guys. It's always great to get positive feedback on a knife you've specified yourself. I've always liked John's knives...especially the PT-1 model. I've seen some photos of Stainless Damascus bolsters on knives, but only one next to ironwood scales. As, you all know, you never really know what a knife will look and feel like until you hold the final product in your hand.

I went out on a limb and asked John to make me this and also make the backspacer SD. I photo copied the ironwood slabs I already had, and traced an outline of one of John's MRCs over the photocopy. This allowed me to show John what part of the slabs to use and where to position them relative to the handles, keeping the best part of the figuring.

John followed the diagrams and viola! When I first opened it, I was almost speechless. It exceeded all of my expectations. This guy is just amazing! Phil...you couldn't have stated it better...right between tactical and art knife...exactly what I wanted.

I occasionally wear a coat and tie, suit and sometimes a tux. These are the the times I'll carry this knife...special occasions for me.

Hey Tom Anderson...you make some mighty fine knives youself. I'm flatterd.

Wow. I nodded for a second here at the screen. What a sight to open your eyes to. Makes my JWS look like, well....just not as good looking as that one. Just beautiful.

What a beauty! Gorgeous lines. How can I contact J.W. to spec out a new EDC? I'm sold!
