I landed an awesome job as a summer custodian. In this job, ill probably end up cutting a thing or two. The job I have now does not allow the use of knives, so this is awesome. I have a "hard use" knife (Paramilitary 2) and I love it, but this gives me an awesome excuse to get another knife :D. Ive narrowed it down to these:

-Spyderco Gayle Bradley
-Spyderco Manix 2 XL
-Benchmade Adamas
-ZT 0350
-ZT 0200
-Hogue Extreme Ex-01 3.5"

These are some of my main picks and I know I can't go wrong with any of them, if you were in my shoes though, what would you pick? I can't carry a fixed blade and my max on this knife is $160. I'm a die hard fan of Spyderco but I am willing to try something new and branch out for this one. It would also be nice to list some more knives that you like to give me more ideas.

Thanks,
George :D

I Say Get One Of The ZTs, Awesome Knives.
Benchmade And Hogue Are Awesome, But ZT Is Top Notch As Well, I'm In Love With Them.

I have all of the knives on your list but the Manix XL. Of that list I'd probably go with the ZT 350 because it's so different from the Paramitary. Otherwise, I try the Gayle Bradley. Not on the list but I'd suggest the Spyderco Sage 2. It's a little smaller but titanium, great fit and finish and a dressier knife.

It's hard to go wrong with any of the above knives, they're all quality pieces. Of the above knives I believe I'd be most interested in the Manix 2 XL mainly due to the fact that the blade profile is substantial but not overly thick by any means. IMO it's about right as far as thickness goes. Also I've found the Spyderco ball lock to be very easy to engage/disengage and very easy to warm up to. Spyderco's 154CM is also pretty good stuff and while not super wear resistant or tough it's an excellent "jack of all trades" steel that doesn't exactly excel in one area too much but excellent overall.

I'd go with the ZT0350, it just gets so many things right.

Flipper deployment: I can open my ZT0350 near as fast as an Emerson wave when carrying it tip-up. The flipper also makes a great finger guard.
Thumb stud used as the stop pin: Gives you a super thick, solidly anchored stop pin, as well as giving added strength for side-to-side torque.
Blade steel + grind: S30V is one of the best balances of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance IMHO. Plus the blade keeps it's thickness up by the tip, you'd have to try hard to brake the tip off this thing.

Yeah, the 0350 has made me a ZT fanboy :p

Congratulations on the non-sucky job!

I would get an 0560, but that's just me. The 0200 still has the most comfortable handle I've ever used though, and you will not find a better built and more solid knife than that one (not counting customs).

since i'm retiring from my present company, i thought i'd gift myself with a ti millie. if i were you, i'd first find out how the new company takes to a knife-boy, which is what my 9-year old daughter calls me. are you going to be working with kids?

Nope, we are there when the kids are not.

I'd get the Gayle Bradley, CPM M4 is way badass. I have an Adamas and it will probably never get carried. One that is not on your list that is one of my current favorites is the Benchmade Contego, also in CPM M4.

Of the ones you listed, the ZTs are hard to beat for durability.

For hard use, I also recommend the Benchmade Contego. CPM M4 is a very tough steel and the whole package is pretty slick.

DPX HEST 2.0. As far as ruggedness and durability there are few knives I wouldn't put it up against. It's a real beast. Titanium, roto lock, made by Lion Steel, can be waved open (optional). Right at the top of your price limit.

I would say the Gayle Bradley would be an awesome pick. I have been EDCing one for a while now and it’s a beast for a hard use knife. The blade steel is amazing as well. It use keeps on going and going and going. I like that it’s relatively easy to carry as far as thinness goes compared to the other knives on your list. The liner lock is almost thick enough to be a frame lock too. There is really nothing bad about any of the knives you have on the list. The Adamas would be awesome because it comes with a belt sheath so you don’t have to pocket carry if you don’t want to. My vote is still the GB though.

thank you everyone! Im still leaning towards the Zt's right now. Its between that and the Gayle Bradley. I am also considering the DXP Hest now!
