new Katadyn water purification tablets?

I didn't know there were two kinds. I use the MP tablets that I bought here. I really don't like iodine and avoid it where I can. The MPs can make you think you're drinking bleach though.

I assume you mean the blister pack instead on the individually wrapped in foil.

I have seen them recently in a trail shop along side the individually wrapped. They were more expensive per treatment.

I can see the appeal of the blister pack for a long trip. However, I prefer the individual as I can stash them in multiple locations. Regardless, it is a good product.

It looks like the ones in the blister pack are made with silver ions rather than chlorine.

I don't really see how the ones in foil are easier to pack than the blister pack. Even the foil are all on one sheet that needs to be cut to separate them.

Most of the time I just grab my Nalgene bottle which is wrapped with duct tape. I stick a couple of the individually wrapped tabs under the duct tape - very convenient.

If I was carrying a pack, I agree the blister pack would be better.

I think the individual blister pack ones (MT1's) are for treating "city" water, keeping it good for long periods with the silver content.

The MP1s, sold normally in the 30 pack, are for treating water in the field.
