This beauty finally arrived today from California, usually 2 to 3 days shipping. Took 9!!! Went to Kansas, Iowa, I think it toured the country but that's another story and it's home now.

I'm fairly certain its Sher Kami that built it and it's a beauty. Horn Handle, finely polished and wicked sharp. Previous keep never used it, sharpened it or anything, a tad bit of sheath wear from probably taking it out 20 times a day to admire, can't blame him for that, I've only had it since noon and I've probably fondled it 40 times myself.

Some photo knife candy

Handle is in perfect shape but I'm hitting it with Ballistol to make sure it's properly nourished.

I'd welcome any information that anyone knows about these. I never saw one before, nobody else seemed to want to give it a home so I had to do it ya know. Can't be having a homeless knife, just ain't right.

Where did you find that treasure? It's definitely Sher and it looks to me like a custom design. It's surprising that "nobody else wanted to give it a home," or that you got it for $60. That's got to be the deal of the year.

How much does it weigh? Sher is known for "overbuilt" knives, though he could go light when he wanted to.

Sher is my favorite kami. If you get tired of it, drop me a line. Please.

Maybe Auntie or Karda can chime in here. I've never seen one before. I don't have a scale but it isn't very heavy, very light.

I'm not gonna even say where I got it, I already got a spanking from Karda for mentioning it and I didn't sleep for close to half an hour I felt so bad.

Mostly why I bought it was I had no clue what it was but I knew it was HI and it had the UB so I knew is was something good.

My first Sher too. If I find it's something special and I'm not worthy I'll certainly seek a worthy keeper for it.

I'm kind of fond of it though.

When I first saw it I thought it was one of those Howard Wallace designs but looked back and saw it wasn't.

From 2005, the "True Origin of the Trisul Model" was a design by Sher's brother Kancha Kami (Sher's helper):

"Was the model an idea from a Cantina member or did the Kamis come up with it?"

Gang Yangdu says, "The Trisul model was design by sher's brother Kancha Kami. He is Sher's helper in the shop."

Looks like Kancha Kami is going to be a force to be reckoned with one day. :D
The Trisul keeps growing on me bit by bit.

Some specs for the Trisul:

...Overall length is 14" and weight is 11 oz. The blade is 10.0 long and very slender, and just 1 3/16" at it's widest point. The knife is very well balanced. I went through my Bowie collection, and the closest I could find in overall balance and feel was my prized Harold Corby Combat Bowie, made in about 1982, which has a 9 1/2" blade, but is a much heavier knife overall (as well as about 8 times more expensive!, which just goes to show you what a great value these knives are!)...

Contrasting Trisuls:

Thanks Steve, that's good stuff. Now I've seen 3. Wonder how many were made.

Sorry you got your "feelers" hurt Bawanna. That is a great find! Glad you got it. Somehow i missed it but since you got it I feel better. It does sort of resemble Howards Liberty dirk which was one of my favorites. I have heard of these but thats all. Congrats on your new addition to the fam.

60 for that beauty? Whoa! Guess you have loads of good karma!

Only place I'm really lucky is anything HI.
Picture isn't good enough but I was gonna ask you to decipher what it says on the right side about mid point on the blade. I'll have to try and take a better picture at home, I didn't bring it with me today.
Still have to take a good pic of my Trisuli Ghaule too. Doesn't have the UB but it might be devangari which I would recognize if it poked me right smack in the nose.

Assuming you are talking about the second pic you posted, reads He + Ee = Himalayan Imports... A clearer pic would indeed help as this read is almost bordering on educated guess. Such a beautiful blade!

Man, I love the Trisul. I asked Yangdu to order one up for me years ago, and I really loved how it turned out. However, soon after it arrived we had a fire at my office and it got TOTALLY smoked up. The combination of water and smoke obliterated the horn grips.

I recently decided that I wanted to make it a nice project knife. I've worked on it in phases. The first was to pry off the old scales. Instead of keeping the boxy shape, I ground the grip to match my hand more. I wanted it to be something that was carried edge out on my right side so that then I drew it, my thumb would naturally find the rounded butt to give it greater control when I manipulated it.

I monkeyed around with a bunch of different grip ideas. I finally settled on just going with some epoxy and riveted leather slabs. A new flat edge-out sheath was hastily cobbled together with a nice wide belt loop so that when I sit down the knife will ride up in a comfortable position, but when I'm standing, the grip is right and where it needs to be for a fast smooth draw.

I love how the Trisul is just about as long as my forearm. I can quickly draw and "palm" the knife. A quick flick of my wrist and that needle sharp dagger's point is slashing outward. Bring it down in a stabbing motion, and the point is not only driven deep, but the outward edge cleaves into the target.

A determined man armed only with a Trisul could do a LOT of damage.

Trisul is one of my favourite HI "other" knives, light, quick and sharp. Sadly I'm sitting inthe UK typing this and my trisul is in a box in NZ. Another knife worth a remake is the Sgian Dubh that was around a few years ago, I managed to obtain two, the finish is a little rough but they are great wee knives.

So there seems to be at least a few of these things around. It's a great knife.

One of the more wicked HIs ... I had two, and parted with one. Kept the neem handled Trisul.

That is so bad _ss, we should get a run of these done as well as the Bawanna Bowies!! It just looks like a jet fighter sleek and ready to work.
