Hey guys, I have been wanting to do some more full tang bushcraft knives for a while now, and I like the spearpoint aspect of the Kephart, so that is where I decided to start. This is my version of how I would want the knife, so if you're a purist, you may notice some slight differences.
This one is in 1095, @ 59 for hardness. It is made out of 1/8" thick stock, as I really prefer slicers in knives this size. It is convex ground, with a convex edge. It has a 4.5" blade, and 4.5" handle. Obviously, I do custom work as well, but this was the size I wanted to do the standard model in.
I tend to grind my knives more for slicing. I have never had any chipping or other issues from customers during normal use, but I like thinner edges. So if that's not your preference, just something to keep in mind and I can grind it a little thicker if you prefer.
I use Corby bolts and epoxy, so the handles aren't coming off there. Then tangs are slightly hollow ground to reduce weight, and the lanyard tube is stainless. The sheath has a snug fit and it locks in place, but is not overly tight. The knife sits deep enough that it's not going anywhere. I also offer danglers for a few dollars more.
I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you,
Sam
