I wanted to share. I had wanted a Kephart for a long time, and as a nice suprise I got an email this week saying my knife was almost done. I had ordered it a while ago and still got it sooner than was expected. Well it showed up today and I love it, cut some veggies up with it for the deep fryer but havent gotten to give it a real work out yet. ML knives did a fantastic job on the knife and the sheath was great too. Cant wait to get out camping with it!

Looks great! The pic is really tiny though. :)

I have about 5 more months to wait before Matt gets mine done -- good to see his work represented here.

Yes...please make that picture ,really, really big, so we can see all of Matt's fine hammer work!!

Ok had some problems with yahoo downloading photos yesterday, so lets see if we can see this pic anybetter... BTW this is a photo Matt took of the knife before sending it to me his are better than mine.

here is one of my own pics I took from my phone, not very good for a knife with this kind of detail and perfect lines! I love it more everytime I hold it in my hands! I would gladly wait and spend the money all over again for this knife! Problem being is now I want another one!

Very decent work, rugged but elegant, so it keeps faith with the original.

Thanks, Will

I plan to order one in October, so this is a timely thread. His Kepharts just speak to me. What handles are those?

Fantastic! You have good taste as this is almost exactly as mine will be -- black walnut handles with lanyard hole, though this looks like brass pins (pins on mine will be stainless steel and an extra 1/2 inch added to the handle as I have quite wide palms). Sadly, he is long out of the cross-cut red oak, which would have been my first choice for handle material. Thanks for posting -- makes me anxious to get mine. :D

Nice piece. I'm a fan of Matt's work also; I'd like to get one of his Price-style skinners in elk horn someday.

stunning

spend too much time on his site - just as well he doesn't make folders i'd be vewry poor if he did

happy but poor...

Very nice. If you don't mind my asking,
How thick is the blade? What's the angle on that bevel, or are there two bevels? (His pic seems to have a 2ry bevel, yours looks scandinavian.)
I like the sheath, too.

I had a few Kepharts, a friction folder and a French style camp knife. All had flat grinds. Matt might be doing scandi grinds, but he leaves that forge finish on most of his knives.

According to his emails with me in June, Matt's standard grind (unless a customer specifically asks for something else) is convex with a small secondary bevel.

Thanks, guys. That explains what I'm seeing.
