Off work today & feeling down in the dumps; thought "I need a new knife". Couldn't decide between a Skyline or a Zing. Held them both & liked them both, but my conservative nature said "Go for the Skyline, the Zing has all those weird grooves in the blade. So, when I got home, the clerk had put the Zing in the sack by mistake. The Mysterious Secret Powers of Kershaw have decreed that I possess a Zing.
I love it!
This is my first non-AO flipper, and it took me an hour or so to learn to open the thing, but now I've got it down and flipping it open with either hand. I think I can open this faster than my Shallot. Maybe.
Zing is my new companion, my new favorite Kershaw. I am a flipper guy now. A happy flipper guy. Certain that a Skyline, OD-1, and a RAM will soon be finding their way to my house.

Karma can be a bitch Quapaw! I love RJ's flippers!

BTW, the grooves in the blade aren't just for looks...they're very functional. RJ has stated they reduce drag by more than 50%. Makes sense, because only the tops of the grooves provide resistance to whatever it is you're cutting thru.

Enjoy your new Zing!

i had high hopes for the Zing, but I'm on my second Zing with incurable spinning pivot syndrome, only this one is stuck tighter than the first and doesn't even pop out any more. Very sad. Cool knives though

the Kershaw/RJMartin Groove is pretty fantastic, though!

Go back and get the Skyline too. While your at it pick up the OD-1. As much as I like my Zing, the Skyline has toppled all my other knives in my EDC rotation. OD-1 is close behind. You may like the Zing better, but you should at least give the Skyline a chance.

Definitely get the RAM, best flipper ever IMO. Skyline is also a very nice knife, my Damascus Skyline probably gets carried more than anything else.

Yeah that kershaw bug  I just got a ti/ZDP leek :D. If it weren't for the kershaw bug i could afford a ferrari or something...

The grooves do reduce drag. It was very obvious when I was slicing some cheddar and apple the other day. Cleaning gunk out of the grooves is another story altogether. Not too bad when you're home with the kitchen full of detergent and brushes but not so kewl when you're out in the woods. I gifted it to someone who appreciates it and won't use it for messy cutting tasks.

An old sprint run from long ago.

But that's not important...how did morrowj end up with more than me?:eek:

:eek:They made a Ti/ZDP Leek?!I missed out on that one.Are they still being made?

They made a little over 1000 of them....they still pop up for sale every so often.

Here is one of mine next to one of my Sebenzas.
