Here's the short version - what was shown at SHOT was the prototype, not one of ten thousand waiting to ship. Kershaw took orders at SHOT for their future production. That is what the show does, brings buyers and new products together, both sides are guessing which will be a good seller. It's not about stock sitting in the warehouse ready to ship - there's too much risk in this market, fashion is what drives it, not common sense.
It's February, Kershaw and all the others use the accounting terms of quarters to target when it should ship, items like the Thermite are forecast for 2Q2013 - this coming April thru June. They haven't even made them yet.
It won't get pinned down any closer, too many things crop up with material supplies, shipments, and international situations that literally close borders for a week. There is no control over a lot of it, they get them as soon as they get them, and move them on to the vendors. If a ship sinks or a truck slides off the road, too bad. It's called a logistics chain for a reason, any link could be the weak one, and people are jerking on it constantly. The internet hasn't helped one bit - now when people see SHOT, they
d e m a n d it be made available. It got so bad for Magpul they make no forecast at all and that's that.
Kershaw had an incident, it goes to why that forum doesn't even have a factory rep now. Oh well.
When you see them available for sale, they are. That's the way it has to be now.
