Ciao Bill,
One of the guards has presented me with a Khuk (he just come back from Nepal). The knife is BAS type 15 1/2" overall, thick .375 at the spine, handle is black horn overall 5 1/2 long (4 3/4 between bolster and buttcap), full spike tank, good fitting on the bolster and ugly "biting" buttcap. The fitting is more than decent, the blade is polished (better than satin but not quite HI). The handle feels confortable and it has quite a good finish to it. Karda and chakma useless, scabbard decent. The blade is marked with two crossed khuk and it has punched on it 'gorkha army" and "1111" at the base of the blade. It seems to be some kind of factory made blade of fairly decent quality, the blade has a good almost shaving edge to it. The knife feels very good in the hands but it is not HI, somehow it feels kind of tiny. The end of the whole story is if the markings on it are telling you anything about the knife origin; I know it is a fairly common factory made blade, but I wanted to enquire anyway, because it seems kind of better than what I would have expected.I'm about to go home, I will sign off in few day in Taronga NZ and fly home after one week. I'll be ready to order again some of your beauties in january.
Ciao
