Jake made me do it, posting nice pics of GEC's latest jigging.
I purchased a Missouri Trapper, which is a nice compromise between the 23 and 73 patterns. A "42" if you will.
Great fit and finish, and perfect snap, and that bone is reminiscent of the knives of the old "golden age" of U.S. cutlery. I am of the belief that GEC has brought us into the "new" golden age of said cutlery!
It arrived today, along with something I have often thought would be a nice knife to take custody of, a Remington Bullet 1123! A little patina away from being mint, it has been vetted by Bernard, the Curmudgeon of Eugene!
On CEing and CFing it, I agree wholeheartedly with his assessment!
A Byzantine series of trades and boot has brought it to me in an exciting fashion (for another time)!
For your visual comparison pleasure . . . .
The fit and finish, after all these years, is still incredible! I can see where GEC got its inspiration for hard snapping knives, when they used this as one of their first patterns. This knife's blades are a milli-ounce short of nail breaking snappishness, perhaps, 8.58 on a 1-10 scale! Makes me feel very macho (cough, cough) opening these suckers! Maybe that's why it was put aside instead of being used!!??
Anyway, let Remington bone be an inspiration to all who tread here, and make knives!!
My first, and probably only Bullet! But what a Bullet!!
