New Kissing Cranes

sadly they look a lot like the older ones, so it's hard to tell the difference. The older ones are good knives - alt least the ones with carbon steel are.

the current production Kissing Cranes are a bit inferior to Rough Rider, which sell for about 1/2 or less of K.C. prices. roland

I guess I can give you a report soon. I just snagged a copperhead pretty cheap. If it sucks I'll give it away.

The only difference I can actually see (I know the steel is probably cheaper) is the emblem on the side. I do have have a good feeling about the imported marbles folders. They kinda seem like my imported buck traditionals, which have been very good for being imports. We'll see about the Marbles though.

I believe the older Soligen made Cranes have a round shield on the handle. These also have Kissing Cranes (plural) on the box whereas the Chinese made knives have Kissing Crane (singular) on the box. I believe the stilettos and sod busters are made in Italy.

S.K., that's v. helpful. i have spent hours looking at K.C.s on ebay trying to spot clues as to origin. i do have a couple of obviously old K.C.s,(as well as a China one) but "mint" ones are hard to tell.

Lo and behold I just bought one that specifically said Carbon steel blades on the description. Guess what - stainless and made in china. Fit and finish is very good though... no blade play, good snap, etc...

I'll probably give it away cause I don't care for the stainless, but it's a decent built knife.
