I did not want to spend a bunch of cash to get myself a new motor and VFD for a disc grinder so I made this one to fit on my KMG. Real simple, fairly inexpensive and I still get 2HP and variable speed.

Awesome! Good thinking!
I'm very impressed with this simple, ingenious solution. I'm going to make one for myself.
Thank you very much for sharing :)

This is a neat idea, if you're just using it to flatten handle and guard material I think it would work great.

However, if you're gonna use it to help flatten flat grinds..... in order to maximize use of a disk like this it really needs to be reversible and free from obstructions. It wouldn't work for the way that I work as I'd be hitting the motor when trying to grind from the left side of the disk.

That is great! Just awesome! The KMG begs for home brew stuff like this. We need to start a thread where all of us that like to build stuff for our machines can show off our ideas in one place. Wheel adaptors, work rests, special tool arms....All would be welcome. :)

You could push the shaft through a little more and move the disc to the other side of the "idler" wheel to provide the efect of changing rotation. Or even mount a second wheel so you could have one on either side. Now that would be really cool!

There is plenty of room to do just that. I was going to add another disc to the other side. It would allow me to have multiple grits of sandpaper.

It's tough to see in the photo but there is quite a bit of room between the disc and the motor. It is reverseable as well.

techna, that is a good idea. A Grinder attachment sticky maybe. I don't know how many pics of KMG attachments I have saved from this forum.

Excellent Idea on the grinder. I have been wanting to buy a disc grinder myself and this would save me some cash. That is awesome.
Thanks for being unselfish.
