So I wanted to get another Buck 110. Lost mine 30 years ago…

That is nice one. Will you be putting it to use? I ask because I never know what to do with a coated blade.

Why don't you share a few "1970 deer hunting in Upstate" stories? You know we're suckers for that. Especially if there's a Buck involved.

Ha, actually the deer hunting in the Catskills Ny is way BETTER today than in 1970. Why, way much less hunters and years of 3pt each side regs have produced some impressive bucks now, they have time to grow up. In the 1970, most deer taken were spike or 3 or 4 pointers, skinny racks….no time to grow up, average age of 1.5 yrs. The towns were a sea of red vests….thousands of hunters in the Catskills, mostly carrying a Buck 110 or 119. Its a dying sport now, the golden age is gone, not being passed on, the ritual bonding of young boys trying to bag thier first deer to impress the camp elders…its over. In my 45 years of deer hunting I got 32 deer, …..by either rifle or bow…mostly average …my first at 17, a three pointer with a 7mm rem mag. My last was in 2010, my biggest buck. He was
a nice 225 lbs decent anthered buck (second pick) , the only one I actually Rattled in with horns. My friend got this monster buck Last Year…same area, …..bucks this size like this did not exist in NY in 1970 (first pic)) . He is a hell of a determined hunter, owns a farm, has stands all over his farm…freezes his ass off sitting in a tree at 5 am 18 degrees outside, every day of deer season … but gets a buck and a few does EVERY year without fail. He actually saw this buck on opening day but did not like the shot and let him pass!!!!! ….and hunted him the rest of the week, confident in his ability to find him again….and finally the buck showed up again 5 days later, and he had a better shot…wow!!!! That is a hunter in my books.

I’d like to hear how you lost your first one.

I can’t fathom how you survived 30 years without a 110. At least you are making it right now.

I Lost my Buck 110 Knife gutting out a buck…..
must have laid down the knife somewhere in snow and forgot to pick it up…..never located it…I tried…
I then bought a Buck fixed blade 116 , a small blade and somehow lost track of what I did with it.

zippo123 zippo123 I used to work in an office with some guys who went Upstate for deer season every year. I don't recall if they had Buck knives, but they used to spend a bundle at Eddie Bauer. I'm surprised to hear that deer hunting in the New York-New England area is on the decline. Sounds like Thanksgiving without a turkey. But it's nice to hear that the deer population is strong and healthy. Maybe the hunters will return.

Yea, that would be nice, but its a dream. Hunting is an activity of a bygone era in Upstate NY. like kids going to play outdoors..
stickball, handball, softball, …or going fishing….sitting in the woods for hours in the cold in a blind….Ha .. what kid would do that anymore…! not going to happen…..in NY.

But in Montana, WY and Idaho, Colorado so on. ….Hunting still has a chance. Different culture…..
