Hello people!

I'm looking for a new fixed blade knife and a new khukuri.

The Busse ASH-1 catched my eye and I'm looking for knives similiar to this one.

And as stated above I'm also looking for a new quality khukuri of classic design.

Both are going to be used for hiking and general utility.

So, any recommendations?

Please excuse any bad grammar ;)

For the khukuri check Himalayan Imports section.

For hiking, a 15" should be fine.

Ah, I will definatly check HI out.
As for the knife, maybe I should have stated that the knife will be used as an accessory to the Khukri. I think a 15" will be a bit unnecessary.

Thanks for the quick response.

I love my Khuk from Khukurihouseonline.com . It's the Jungle Model - 10" blade (perfect size for hiking) 3/8" thick high carbon rolled steel  Chops like you've never seen & holds a good edge !

Here is a pic of it beside my Ontario RAT-7 (I also love this knife !)

I'm 6'1" 217lbs ;)

Do yourself a favor and check out Himalayan Imports before buying a Khukri anywhere else, of particular note are the DOTD (deals of the day) only available here at Bladeforums in the HI forum. You won't be disappointed. :)

Ok, I've looked at both HI and Khukurihouseonline.com and also found another site: Khukuriblades.com.

They appeared to be legit and so I emailed them a couple of hours and ago about doing a custom order of their Service No. 1: Remade and quite quickly recieved a response that they would have no problem taking the order. :)

So that covers the khukuri bit.

Now to the knife, I've decided to get a Busse ASH-1. I just can't decide which coating colour to get :/

It stands between Black, Desert Olive and OD. Which should I choose?

And thanks to you who have responded to this topic so far.
I will definatly look at HI and Khukurihouse in the future ;)

I think a 15" will be a bit unnecessary.

Just to check: You do know that 15" is the overall length? 15" isn't that big. Especially considering that the ASH has a 6.5" blade IIRC. If it's an accessory, the knife should be shorter than the khuk. I would more go with a 4-5" blade.

Here are my 18" Ganga Ram, 15" BAS with a Ranger RD6:

What 4-5" would you recommend then?

To go with my Khuk I will get a Bark River, Aurora or Northstar I'm not sure yet.

But...

If you want/can afford a Busse, go for it. I'm not familiar with all of their models, but a Badger Attack could be the one.

That Aurora with stag-bone grips looks absolutely stunning!

Think I will get that and a Busse later when I have more money to spare.

Thanks a lot for showing me this great company. :D

And thanks to the rest of you aswell for your input.

Flash_Hider - Please return when you have received your Khuk and let us know what you think of it.

If you search around you will find many who applaud the Bark River products and lots of places that sell a variety of them.

cybrok - great recommendations.
