Hello all. If any of you fellows have not taken a look at www.knifeauctions.net yet, please do so. This should be a great place to buy and sell your knives. I do have a motive telling you about this since I, Rhett Stidham, am one of the owners along with Bruce Voyles, Rolf Friberg, Dan Delavan, David Mullins and Perry Miller.

The site officially opens August 15, but there are knives there now, for sale. You may sell your knives for no fee/charge from August 15th to September 30th.

We welcome your constructive criticism to inprove this site. One of he neatest features about this site is the 3 minute or 5 minute(option of seller) time delay at the end of the auction that allows you to place that final bid. No more getting slammed and missing your bid. Say the auction ends at 12:00 pm and someone bids at 12:01 then the next ending time is 12:04 pm. Another bid would increase the time another 3 (5minutes) minutes each time.

Another great tool with this auction is that you can pick the time and date your auction starts and ends. Say you are going on vacation next week and you would like for the auction to start right before you get back. Just list your knives now with the desired dates. Pretty neat, huh?

Best regards,

Rhett Stidham

Checked out the site. Somehow had hoped to find more individual sellers, but guess you have to start someplace.

I think you might be able to avoid some frustration if you tightened up the categories a bit. For instance, a Spyderco Bill Moran Ltwt is listed in the ABS knife section. If I recall correctly, the name Spyderco didn't enter the information provided.

Another opinion. The most profligate lister thus far, repeatedly describes his knives as mint, then lists as many as 4 or 5 corrosion spots or whatever. He seems to be honest about listing them, but in my definition of "mint" there are no flaws, unless put there by the maker. I equate mint with perfect.

Lastly, again referring to the guy with all the listings. He never once mentions the type steel used in the blades of the knives for sale. As a potential customer, I could easily grow weary of communicating by e-mail every time I see a knife I think I might bid on, to find out what kind of steel it has.

So far, I've not gotten Pay Pal. Given the relatively high prices likely for many of the knives listed, potential fraud is going to have a new level of significance. Unfortunately, that will be especially so in these early days. Am afraid it would be impossible for me to send off a check, or buy a money order for $1500, or more, without having idea one about the seller. Off the top, am not sure just how many affirmative comments a guy would have to have before I'd take such a risk. Of course though, I'm a paranoid.

Good luck with your new venture!

Rhett, good luck with the new venture. I am going to lock this thread due to it's commercial nature.
