I currently EDC a Paramilitary, and thinking about buying one of the above. Which has the locking mechanism most similar to my ParaMillie?

Which would you pick and why?

Thanks.

The Millie is a liner lock, the Skirmish a frame lock, and the Para is a compression lock. All a little different, but still similar. The the Millie and Skirmish's locks are more akin to each other than to the Para.

The Skirmish's lock may be a little beefier than the Millie's, but the Millie has an outstanding reputation for a liner lock. I have one, and I've never doubted it.

As for what I'd pick.... I'd go for the BG42 CF millie just because it's special. :D It's also lighter than the Skirmish, and for me, a little easier to carry.

The Skirmish is an awesome knife also. Either way, you've got a win-win

Edit: forgot that the Skirmish was a special edition also... I'd still take the Mille for the weight factor.

I liked my older Military enough to get the BG-42 model. Excellent decision. It's a beautiful knife, a great cutting tool. I find it more useful than a knife like the Skirmish, but any of the Skirmish models, large and small, are fine knives as well, and won't disappoint you. I just prefer the sleeker Military style.

The Military is my favorite large knife design. I would love a BG42 Military. I know BG42 does not last as long as S30V, but I have always heard it takes a super wicked edge.

The BG42 is my preferred knife between the two. I typically would pick a Ti Framelock anyday but the BG42 millie is a much better fit and finished, and much more comfortable knife.

I completely disagree about BG42 not lasting as long as S30V. It lasts as long or longer, and takes a better edge IMO. Yes, S30 is still an excellent steel.Joe

personally I dont like carbonfiber as a handle material so I prefer the skirmish. I dont personally have the mili so i cant comment on fit and finish but i have to say I really love my skirmish. The fit and finish are really good imo. Im also a titanium fan so its the right knife for me=)

Do you like G-10? If you like G-10 you will LOVE Peel-Ply CF.

yes I do like g10. I just dont like the durability of carbon. The grippyness is fine.

What specific aspects of durability are you concerned about? CF is stiffer and stronger than G-10 (by a good margin, too). It is equally chemically and UV resistant and I haven't had issues with fraying on the peel-ply stuff either.

can anyone post good pictures of the cf handles of the military? most pics i see are dark & its hard to see the detail...........
