Every year we buy BBQ from a church (fund raiser), and this was the first time they did not cut it up. We got a shoulder and I spent some time cutting it up. I just thought I would show some pics .Here is my huntsman in sheeps horn.

Thanks,
John

I got hungrey looking at that picture. I think I'll go have some bbq for lunch today.

Oh, and thats a nice looking knife too!

I was going to say that it was a toss-up between the BBQ and the knife as to which was nicer, but I'm going with the Bark River.

It will be around much longer than that BBQ!

Choose the Barkie, the BBQ is gone  I am a big boy, and it did not last long aroud me LOL.

. It has been a great knife for EDC.
The Knife is still here going strong after a week :barf: but the BBQ is not :o.

First rate new knife there!

Can't quite see it but is that a Classic Lite Hunter from Bark River or something else? Whatever, Bark River puts out a very satisfying and elegant user in my view, I have 7 of them and another on the way:D

Just as I had figured it would go :D

One of the things I really like about this Traditional forum is that you get to see and hear of stuff that doesn't exist up here in Chicago.

A while back around here, for the first time, I heard of a "Sunday go-to-meetin' knife." That's a beautiful thing.

"North Carolina church fundraiser BBQ" is equally beautiful.

Chicago is a great town, I love it, its where I'm from, but its not completely "traditional" (though its still a farm town at heart).

Anyway its always nice to get a dose of "traditional" here.

Thanks, fellas!

Here is another thing that I have picked up from you guys, using my pocket knife to prepare food. It works better then the kitchen knives. I guess because it is of better steel.

Oh, that BBQ looks mighty good.

Thanks

Can anyone explain this? Is this old news? Fake? True?

If it isn't true, how would we prove that? :)

Have you written to Bark River? The story is almost two years old, from 1/5/2006. It lists a number of major dealers as being notified but who still carry Bark River.

The writer says her 'husband and a few family members worked for this company." Could they have left under unhappy circumstances? She doesn't give a family name.

Theres two sides to every coin.

Esav makes a good point, the accusations coming from EX-employees.

I would tend not to believe it unless there was real evidence. I would need real proof not to pass it off as rumor spread by ex-workers for unknown reasons. My dad always said if you're going to make a statement against someone, stand up and let them see who you are.

I understand Bark River also makes knives for other companies, besides those sold under their own name. If these others ask for a particular steel at a different price, they can get it. It's up to them what they tell their customers.

Also, Bark River has finished knives left over from other companies' projects. Those aren't "Bark Rivers" either, and they don't have to make them of the same materials they make their own.

The article says they claim they use A2. That's true, but they also let us know when they use other steels, like 12C27.

The fairest way to get an answer would be to contact Bark River. I wonder if whoever wrote that Ripoff report or published it let Bark River know about it.

+1

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.

Or, in this case, strong claims require strong proof.

"Elizabeth" doesn't even give a last name, or any identification of who "she" is, or that in any way "she" brought evidence against Bark River.

On the other hand, "she"provides a list of top-shelf vendors who were apparently notified of the issue, but continue to sell Bark River knives to this day. I find it hard to believe that these vendors, all of which sell knives based on hard-earned reputations, would sell Bark River if BR were making false claims about their knives.

I only have 2 Barkies, and I know they are not stainless. The first time I used my new huntsman for the BBQ, it developed a nice blue patina. Same with my other Barkie that claims to be A2. Either way, they are great knives IMHO.

I thought it sounded kinda fishy, especially with the rep. they have here. I was just wondering if this was an old issue that had been hashed out on these forums, before I came along. Just wondering if it had been seen or talked about before. I'm not surprised it hasn't though as it only comes up with one search engine.
