The postman just came with my new knife today, an Al Mar SERE 2000 satin with black clip.

Man what a beautiful knife! Pics Ive seen doesnt do it justice its a good looking well built heavy knife. I really like it. Bigger than I thought it would be
and locks up rock solid, Im impressed. It was between this, a benchmade bedlam, CRK large sebenza and a ZT 0200. Im glad I got this feels great in the hand.

Im about to take off to go look look into buying an M1A then off too the range with my FAL and then I have a tattoo apt to get my chest finished and the Mar will accompany me.

New knife! Guns! Shooting! Tattoos! 65 degrees and sunny in MN where normally we would have inches of snow. Its gonna be a good day.

Sere 2000 is one of the few G10 modern monsters ( ;) ) that I would be interested of. Too bad they cost ridiculous amounts here, and I would definitely prefer lockback. It looks great for sure!

Congrats on your new purchase! I've been considering the SERE 2000 for quite a while but haven't yet pulled the trigger. Keep us updated on how you like it. What are the main things you'll be using it for? (And please don't just say "cutting stuff". :p )

I bought a mini SERE 2000 last year and absolutely love it. Looking at the list price some might think that it's over priced, however when you get it in hand and see how much extra time is spent on the extra details you'll see that its a ver fair price. Al Mars fit and finish blows every production companies fit and finish out of the water besides CRK! IMO...

I bought one of the SERE 2000's when they first came out and at the time I was floored by it's quality! It was the perfect sized folder for me, had the deep-carry pocket clip, and a very usable blade shape to boot. Skip ahead to two years ago when I decided I needed to get another one and for a while I thought my order was wrong and I had been sent the mini SERE!;) It was tiny to me. I was/still am carrying some of the mega folders and most of my stuff is a 4" blade or longer. Not that I don't have a few under 4", because I do. But back to the SERE. I know that I had carried bigger folders and that it was the same SERE that had floored me a few years back. It still had the same quality and same terrific build as before. I did have a little trouble with lockup, but giving the lock a little more bend ( something I do with all my frame/liner lock knives to make the lock stiffer ) took care of the problem and it once again had rock solid lockup.

You did well with your choice and I suspect you will enjoy this one for a long while!:D

I say you´re a god damned liar until you prove it with pics!!!! :)

Ha I knew that was coming

Thanks! Id say go for it, Im really diggin it. I just wish I would have done it sooner.

Well, Ill EDC it for a bit. Ill use it to open up bad mail, open and slice up packages tactical style, cut some loose strings maybe, itll be a backup to my carry gun and I guess whatever Ill need a sharp knife for in my day to day life. No food though.

You need the large one, I guess I need the mini then. Yes Ive just realized
how well this knife is put together, I dont have a Sebenza to compare it to but Im a happy guy.

Im a big folder kinda guy myself, this is the smallest folder I own. It just feels beefy, I love it! Everything is good with it so far hopefully Itll stay that way.

For the money, around $200, the SERE is about the nicest folder made, by any manufacturer.
They are seriously good folders. The Mini SERE is just as good and a fantastic EDC.
The Fallkniven PXL is another contender for best bang for the buck.
