Yesterday I hit a major payday at the Post Office. Got a new Spec Bump and a Leica DLux 2! So I had to try the camera out and what better than my new Spec Bump...

Knives and cameras seem to be two hobbies that go together nicely. Recently picked up a Canon A530 and find myself taking a lot of macro shots of knives.

BTW, one of my serious photographer friends noted that many cameras show a tendency towards slight underexposure with these kinds of shots that can be tough to get just where you want it with exposure and flash settings. Image software like the Gimp and Kolourpaint under Linux, or Photoshop if you run Windows, do a great job of adjusting image brightness:

I didn't want to do too much (other than sizing) adjustments to it (I do have CS2). I need to play with the white adjustment on the camera and start using more of the manual settings on it. Plus, the main thing I was checking was the clarity and determining how sharp the Leica lens is.

Definitely a fine camera you've got there, imagine you've got exposure bracketing capabilities too which is nice. BTW didn't intend my first post in any way to be critical, just a tip someone gave me so thought I'd pass it along.

One thing I really do like with digital photography is this ability to adjust the image after the fact. I've yet to really dig into working with image layers, but I suppose that's inevitable too. With cameras, as with knives, guns, fast cars and beautiful girls, I guess a guy's just never totally satisfied. :) There was this one lady in my life, however .... (sigh!)

Wasn't taken as being critical, definitely appreciate any helps or tips given :D It was tough getting a good exposure with a stark white background and an all black knife. Will definitely take some playing with to get it right.
