new knife... can't wait till it arrives...

hello all. i just recently bought a Ka-Bar 2-1221-5 next generation knife and i can't wait till it arrives at my house.

i know almost nothing about knives other than i use one ocassionally whenever i eat steak. but yeah this is my first knife. i was just wondering if it was a good knife to get?

but i have found their products to be more than capable and of good quality.

thanks all. i plan on learning as much as possible.

but to answer your question i want it for self-defense and the other reason is to maybe hang it up on my wall or something for disaplay... you know... something cool to look at. its probably a weird reason though.

well, you could've buy two big shiny wallhanger swords that look much better on a wall. Do yourself a favor, try to use your ka-bar next time when you have a steak

yeah thanks guys.

i remember many years ago i saw the brown ka bar knife at the mall. it always stuck in my head that one of these days i wanted to get one.

but i guess the reason why i ultimately didn't get the brown usmc ka bar knife is that i was never in the marines. so i would kinda feel 'phony' to get the knife that said "usmc" on it. yeah but im glad that they make knives that don't say "army" or "usmc" or "navy seals."

so that is my story.

Hey welcome to BF sprite. I'm new myself

I own a fixed blade Warthog by Ka Bar and it's held up pretty well for me. I use it a bait knife. It works awesome for splitting the shells of peelers and other fishing tasks. I don't take care if it at all as it sits in my salt water tackle box. The blade is pretty beat up since I end up cutting bait on a cinder block I find on the beach, but it is a great knife. Have fun with yours.
