So I've always liked playing with knives.. and last summer my boss bought me a Kershaw Leek with blue and black handles for helping him over the summer, sort of as a thank you gift... and this year I decided to bump it up and get myself something a little nicer, a Benchmade 930 Kulgera, Osborne design.. and it's amazing, everything about the knife makes my Leek feel puny in comparison.. I love my Leek, but I feel like the Kulgera is twice the knife.

Just today I ordered a Benchmade Benchmite to play around with, maybe put on my keys... am I on the way to becoming a knife collector? :D I've got my eye on a few more benchmades I'm gonna have sometime before this year is over.. namely the Mini Skirmish, Opportunist, and a Mini Griptilian... Now I just need to find shorts with enough pockets to fit all these knives lol.

Just thought I would share my enthusiasm with everyone here.

Best Regards,
Steven

:DCool. It's good to see other knife enthusiats being enthusiastic about knives.

well welcome to the forum #1 and #2 it is a very addicting habit and it is worth it...people may look at u weird but realize when that zombie holocaust happens u will be prepared...because knives dont need reloading lol...enjoy and i hope ur collection grows well (side note: AHHH ANOTHER NATE...grrr lol)

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I've actually been looking to order my Mini-Griptilian in the next week or so, and had a question.

I've had my eye on just a plain edged one but just a few minutes ago I came across a Doug Ritter Mini Grip... now, it would only be 40 bucks more to get the Doug Ritter mini grip.. and it comes with S30v and from what I've read has a little bit of a wider blade, which I do like, should I spring for that one? I mean it's only 40 bucks and I do like S30v, my kulgera stays razor sharp for forever, and I cut everything with it, when I'm not carrying my Leatherman Charge TTi.

Sounds like your well on your way to building a nice collection:thumbup:. I bought my first Benchmade and Spyderco back in '96 and I love the quality of these knives. The Buck Crosslock is one of the first knives to get me into the one handed tactical knives. Then I got into autos like Microtech, Protech and Benchmade. In the past couple of years I have started collecting traditional slipjoint folders mostly in stag and natural bone. Now I am into the pocket fixed blades, a Greyman Mini-Dinka is being made for me right now as a birthday gift from my brother. This forum is great and contains a wealth of knife knowledge. The people here are awesome...welcome to BladeForums brother:D.

Welcome to the forum. You can't possibly go wrong with a mini grip, including the Ritter version. Mine is used every day during the week.

Here it is with my 806 D2. Get one, you won't regret it.

Benchmades are nice. Remember that there are a number of other manufacturers of high quality folders, including Spyderco, Emerson and Strider, to name a few. I find that most collectors eventually cross over to semi-production and custom fixed blades over time.

I realize there are other high quality brands out there.. but with me when I'm gonna collect anything I always stick with one brand till I feel like I have all the ones I'll want for awhile... then try other brands out.. I'll be honest though, I am in love with the Axis Lock. Before my Kershaw and Benchmade, I was used to nasty cheap knives people would get at the flea market, with a whole bunch of blade play and being totally dull. It was a nice suprise.

I hope to learn alot in this forum, and maybe make some friends while doing so.

Steven
