First off, Welcome to the forums.

I only took a moment to browse through the site and right off I could see that most of what I saw looks as though it is Frost Cutlery items. Most of the Frost line of knives are of low to poor quality.

You can do a few searches here on the forums for Frost Cutlery and you will see that they are not how should I say....Not greeted with open arms. They are what what I would call flea market knives. There are many better quality knives out there to choose from, and this is a great place for you start. Spend a little time here and read the reviews.

Just a few of the better one are...
Buck
Spyderco
Columbia River Knife and Tool (CRKT)
Benchmade
Cold Steel

Welcome to the forums.

Its good to see you are asking the right questions from the start.

Yes, these are the knives your mother warned you about. If you buy one you are going to find that it may not have an edge, that you may not be able to sharpen it, and that if you do get some kind of an edge it will be gone in no time at all. Which is probably a good thing since if these knives actually had an edge they would quickly cut through the cheap sheath and stab you. You can count on these knives to fall apart with the slightest use.

My younger brother bought one of these when he was about 8 (twenty five years ago). It was one of the survival models. No edge, no edge bevel (the edge was about 1/8" thick!, oh and yes it fell apart as soon as he opened the package. Stay away! There are far better knives out there for just a few more dollars.

Welcome Scott!

Yes, those knives look like junk to me. Standard Frost cutlery and Home Shopping Network stuff. Some of us like to watch the HSN knife shows just for the sheer comedy. Real knives don't look like fantasy pieces and are made from quality steel.

What sort of knife are you lloking for? Fixed, folder? Length? Purpose? Price range?

If you answer a few of these questions, the helpful, friendly, and knowledgable folks around here will be happy to help you find something worth your money.
