New knife coming in... I suspect the 561 or 303. The girlfriend is great

I have been tooling around with Zero Tolerances, and have come to like them greatly. I have a 200, and a 350, and I am very impressed with them at this point in time. My girlfriend stated she ordered me knives, and wouldn't tell me. She gave me the dimensions though, and I guessed that since she stated it was a framelock, that it is a ZT/Strider collaborative piece, or a 561. Speaking of the 561... Does anyone have any xp with Elmax steel?? I plan on using and abusing the knife, I know it isn't exactly cheap but I use all of my knives, even the pricier ones. I want to know they are dependable.

Is Elmax overrated in anyone's opinion?? Also how do the edges come on those Hinderer models? I prefer a toothy edge. Lol I know this was a random topic and someone somewhere on this forum may have already addressed this, but I have not found it thus far. Any info regarding Elmax performance and how it holds up would be greatly appreciated :D

I have a 560 and spent a little time putting an edge on it a few weeks ago. Dropped the angle and put a micro bevel on it and it is now one of my sharpest knives. I am not all that good at sharpening so I was a little hesitant to start grinding away at my 560. I used a standard Gatco with diamond stones and an extra fine alumina stone.

The factory edge was ok - I would say a little better than the typical ZT edge, but a pretty high angle. Anyway, the elmax steel sharpened right up and the edge is holding up well. Admittedly I don't use it heavily, but it's nice to know the knife in your pocket is sharp and could cut pretty much anything. I usually carry it when I am not at work.

on edit: congrats on having such a great gf!

hmm... Maybe ElMax isn't so great. I havent used my 560 enough to notice. This seems to be disappointing.
