Hello everyone :D

Here is some new design in 3 versions. And I was working on that design for couple of months.
Previusly that design was done for someone, but they resigned from this design.
They Also telled me they don't want this. ( I have 100% rights to design)

Ok.

What do you think guys about that knife??

Then this knife will go into production upgraded.

I'm not digging the jimping on the rearward portion of the handle, I think it would cause hotspots.
Also not into the tang being exposed at the butt of the handle. I think the handle slabs should go all the way back, it would look more elegant that way, imo.
A small swedge at the tip would probably look nice.
I wonder if 4mm of thickness is sufficient to support an edge with such a high grind?
At 5 1/4", the handle might be a tiny bit too long for some.

Other than that, it looks like it will be a powerful knife with enough visual drama to be interesting, but not so much as to compromise useability.
I like the guard/ricasso transition area, and the geometric dropped point.
Overall, the proportions are looking good.
Although I might opt for just a little more 'beak' at the butt of the handle, the profile of the handle looks ergonomic.
M390 is a fantastic alloy, I love the stuff.

Since my first thought looking at the knife was "I'd love to try that out and review it," I'd have to say that I think it is a good design.

I actually like the idea of the jimping on the back of the handle. I'm a sucker for jimping. I also like the exposed tang for the lanyard hole, though I'm not quite sure about the geometry. For purely aesthetic reasons I might suggest making the trapezoid a little less symmetrical, so that the shape of the tang extension echoes the geometric drop point. Here's a sketch of what I mean.

Just my two cents.

Don't like straight lines in a using knife. Does not need anything out the back for a lanyard? Needs a smooth curve into the tip. Looks good but not sure of the comfort in the hand. I am only thinking of a field use knife for field dressing game.
With respect, Gary

Go for it. I agree with Loriens suggested changes. I personally don't like exposed tangs for lanyards. You are going in the right direction.

that new version is looking great!
still not convinced about the exposed tang at the butt, but I think all the other changes are positive.
I like the addition of the hole in the guard/ricasso. That can be very handy. I'd locate the rearward lanyard hole more in line with it.

Gary, you just made my week! :D:thumbup:
See ya soon

And now :) ?

Call me what you will, but I really like the original tip profile, where it has a bit of a reverse Tanto effect only because I have a thing for that type of knife :p

I like how the design is evolving I am having a hard time suggesting improvements other than changing the handle slightly to where you'd have a better grip when breaking glass/stuff with the pommel and extracting the blade from things ie a finger choil/more pronounced beak with a pinky choil. I can see your hand slipping a bit because of the beak being rather small maybe that's just my preference though.

Time to start making prototype :)
4,5mm N690 with acid stonewash + blasting with stainless 0,1mm balls :)

See how, hole in my knife is placed, and how in Busse.
And I didn't even look on Busse knives before you mentioned it.

And it's a HOLE.
