I received my ZT 561 last week. Possibly overall the best knife I ve ever gotten. I like it even more than my 551,which I carry a lot. But it is so nice I m reluctant to use it for EDC. Then I find out the serial number is 0006! Now I m thinking that if the 560/561 becomes a classic, this knife is a collectible. If I keep it stored, then I have to buy another to use. Would anybody keep this knife as a safe queen? F and F is excellent except for a slightly dull blade.

I'd beat on it! That knife is made to be used. But then again I use anything I buy.

Save it, and either get another one, or keep using the 0551. The quality of the knife will be the exact same as serial number 3887, but the value over time will be much greater.

Though I would recommend getting another one, as the Elmax steel is a higher quality than the S35V. So it would make a much better EDC.

Due to some problems, and my uncontrollable trigger finger, I'll be owning a 0561 -and- 0560 soon. I thought about keeping the 0561 as a collector piece, but I doubt I will. I kept seeing people say the 0561 was a limited edition or something, but it's been confirmed now that it's not. So, now I'll probably sell the 0561 or just trade it out for a 0560 before mine gets here. I'm in a dilemma too, but if I was you...I'd keep the one you have because of the very low serial number. You can always buy another 0561, you can't always buy another 0561 #0006.

Collectable is only for real collectors. My personal experience is that buying knives for future profit is fleeting at best.

In most cases, something better comes out from the MFG that renders what you have stashed, as obsolete.

Except for selling to serious collectors trying to fill a void in their collection, it just doesn't pay off.

Use it gently but enjoy it TODAY! :)

You now have a excuse to buy another one! :D

That 561 would weep if you stashed it away in some safe, comfortable place. :D

I had that problem once with a rare Strider. So I asked Mick Strider what he thought. He said the knives were made to be used and Strider owners prize scratches from use. He was talking about the GB. He makes knives that some save but told me he hates safe queens. I do too.

Unless you think it's going to be an Antiques Roadshow treasure, I'd use it. That's $300 bucks sitting doing nothing.
