I want to buy a new knife for my father. He enjoys case brand knifes but doesn't like to pay that much for a knife. I am willing to. I think he wants a two bladed knife with one blade smaller than the main one. Can anyone help me find something similar. I only could find the Texas Jack. Also could I see some size comparisons he likes a bigger knife. He only carries one knife and is really rough on them so the stronger the better. I would like to keep the price under 50 dollars but I am willing to go higher if I need to. Thanks in advance for all the help.

I would check out a GEC pattern #72 Cody Jack. It's something like 3 5/8 inches closed, has either a main spey or drop point blade (I can't remember), and a smaller secondary spear/pen blade. If the Cody Jack is too small, GEC makes a similar pattern which is the #23 pioneer jack and it is something like 4 1/8 inch closed. The #23 I believe has a drop point main blade. There are many selections for you to choose from for you father's needs, so sit tight because I'm sure others will chime in sooner than later.

Can you say what knife your father carries right now?

It's going to be tough to find a US made 2 blade knife under 50USD new. Plenty of Rough Rider knives from China, they're decent but you may prefer domestic.

Another CASE to think over could be the Wharncliffe Mini Trapper (it's not so mini either)

Buck could provide the answer, say a Stockman which is 3 blades.

I'd suggest a GEC 85 Bullet End Jack, two good blades, very strongly built but it will set you back a lot more than 50.

Case has their Jacks, but they don't get bigger than 3 5/8s right now. Maybe an older one. You might look at a Large Stockman (75 Pattern).

Another option is Buck. The Buck 301 might be right and it's made in the US. It's definitely a hard use knife.

Maybe a Case barlow. The one I gave to my son took everything that was thrown at it, and lives in his pocket while out in the field. Not sure of your fathers age but mine carried an old barlow, now he carries Case peanuts and baby butterbeans. He has no problem using either for what ever he's working on.
Good luck with your choice.
God Bless
Tracy

You can get a new Case Copperhead in Molasses Barnboard Jigged Bone for $45.94 shipped.

Those are pretty nice knives and are plenty big at 3 7/8" closed. I've got 4 of them and they are my favorite Case pattern in that size second only to the discontinued Texas Jack.

I posted a link to the one I am referring to in your Visitor Message page.

Queen Stockman 4" closed on 3 blades with D-2 HC tool steel $76.00 amber stag bone !!!!!!! you can step 26 bucks for Dear old Dad!!!!!

Case Wharncliffe Copperhead is a 1/16" under 4 inches closed, and has two different blades. Very useful, around $50.

Is he familiar with carbon steel? SS is not total junk but I would go with CV. Have you looked at the Bose collaborations? CV or SS

Boker has a two blade "Stockman" jack knife, around $60 retail for the limited Evergreen version. It might be available in other handles too, but they aren't common.

After browsing some websites I decided to get him a medium stockman. I got it for 29 dollars shipped.
