I had Tim Olt make me a couple of new knives. The first one showed up yesterday in the mail.
The steel is A2, RC59, cryo tempered. The weight is 15 1/2 ounces. Blade length is 6 inches, total length is 11 inches. That gives me a handle length of 5 inches. Finally, a big handle for a big guy's hand. Handle material is green linen Micarta, and has the exact palm swell on the right side that I have always wanted. I own a lot of knives, but have never held one that FIT my hand better.
Blade thickness is .28 inch. This thing is truly a BEAST!
It is my first really thick knife, and it will take some getting used to. So far, it batons well, chops well and works ok in the kitchen.
I can't wait to get it to the woods, and see how it works in it's intended setting.

I have another coming soon from Tim. This one will be the same design, but in S30V, and much thinner, at .200 inch.

One of our fine members is going to make the leather. One dangler sheath, and one horizontal.

Looks pretty sweet!!! Seriously, it *is* a beast!

Please excuse my ignorance, but with a blade that thick is there a reason to not go with a full-flat grind?

The spine has more belly than the blade, and that always bothers me to no end, but otherwise that looks like a beast of a combat utility knife.
