My wife had been carrying this cheap maple folder I had laying around for about a year now. well, the other day it fell apart and we lost one of the pieces, so I'm looking to get her something a little nicer. looking for about 2" blade, bonus points for purple handles:)

also, looking for a small fixed blade of about 2" for utility purpopses that is not the cold steel push daggers, or mini edges. any info greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance:)

I really like the SOG Bluto:

This one is a red-purple aluminum handle, limited edition 2.25" VG10 blade. I know a lot of folks here don't think much of SOG but I think their Seki, Japan-made VG-10 folders are very nice and high quality (I'm a quality snob:o) The SOG website says $185 which is wacked, it sells for about $100. It was just released so you might have a hard time finding it right now.

For the wife you can never go wrong with a nice Spyderco folder.

I have been EDC'ing the ESEE Izula now for a while and I love it. not sure if I will ever go back to a folder for EDC.

The delica does come in purple now. Check out the Izula for a fixed blade. I know it's not purple but Pink is pretty close. If the delica is too big, take a look at the spyderco lady bug, caly jr or dragon fly. They are all pretty nice very small folders.

Hi Ken_McCarty -

For the wife - I bought my wife, daughter, and a couple of gals at work pink Victorinox SD Classics last year.

They all love them - and tell me so all the time.

All of them use the small scissors on the knife more than the blade.

They do come in purple.

For your small fixed blade, please have a look at the Pack Knife:
or Tin Knife that Stomper of JK Knives is making - both are inexpensive and are rugged yet small knives for a good price.

Pack Knife $85.00 6" oal, 2 3/4" blade, 1/8" thick, 3/8" thick micarta handles.

Tin Knife. Overall length is 3 3/4", cutting edge is 1 1/2". These are made from 1" x 3/32" O1 stock. If you prefer 1/8" stock, add $3. Cost will be $40 for forged finish, or $45 for satin finish (as shown.) Add $5 for kydex sheath.

For your two incher, the Buck Paklite Skinner fits the bill very well. Just a clean classy blade with a good working point, strong slicing moderate and practical recurve design, real comfy skeleton handle. Made in USA. The sheath kinda sucks-but for 12 bucks... you could have someone make an EDC kydex deal or a leather belt sheath or something...

how about the spyderco native in pink. excellent and strong knife and a part of it goes to breast cancer research. Can't go wrong with that.

oh, but it's bigger than 2"

My wife's pocket knife of many years was a Kershaw Rainbow Chive. That changed a few months back when she found the new Benchmade 3150 Lertch auto knife. She takes it everywhere - it really won her heart - and she picked it out!

Can't beat an Izula! paracord wrap or micarta scales 4 colors to choose from.

I think a spyderco ladybug would be great for your wife, comes in purple too..
Also, you can't go wrong with a vic classic.. Many colors to choose from and they often put out limited runs. I got my girlfriend one a while back and she loves it.
As for a small fixed blade, the cold steel mini pendleton is a cool little knife. I believe it might be a bit over 2 inches. Razor sharp from the box. IMO the izula is the best edc fixed blades out there. Very strong knife and the price is right. Perfect size to tuck away in the pocket yet big enough for most edc tasks. When I carry mine I just slip it in my back pocket.
