New Knife - Help needed

I picked up this knife at a show this weekend and the only thing I know is that the maker's name is NIHISER and he is out of Ohio. The dealer said he is a machinist and has only been making knives for a few years.

The blade is ATS-34, bead blasted and is approx. 3 1/4" long and the grind lines are very good (not perfect, but very close). Bolsters are Titanium and the work is flawless. Handle is Banana G-10 and is extremely well fitted to the bolsters. Liners are anodized Titanium that has been "turned". Back Spacer appears to be Aluminum. The attention to detail is incredible, from the blade being perfectly centered, to the liner lock (and I don't really care for them)locking like a vault, to the serrations for thumb and finger, to the thumbstud being milled for grip.

The only thing I could find wrong is a TINY and I mean TINY, place where the bolster and clip side handle slab don't meet absolutely perfect, and the edge could be a tad sharper(but then again, I like a razor sharp edge). This knife is as good or better than many, many knives sold for several hundreds more.

If anyone has any info on this maker, I would love to hear it, especially contact info.

Oh, and the cost? Let's just say that this custom knife was less than MANY of the high end factory knives out there today.

Here's some pics....

It looks like you got a really nice knife for a good price. You can't beat that.
I have no idea who the maker is, so I can't give you any help there.

Keith.

Knifeart has a page on him.Larry could probably help you with contact info.

I always find it rewarding to patronize an up-and-comer. Rewarding because I get a new custom for an excellent price, and rewarding because I help to feed and house him for another day while he learns his craft, rather than hanging it up to tinker with friggin' computers like me!

Looks like a real find. With clean lines like those, I have every confidence that he'll be matching up those slabs and liners in no time! As for the edge, you might want to (after you track him down) give him a call and let him know. I know that several makers do a thick edge on purpose, but I also know many buyers who will take that thick edge as a sign of lesser quality, and shy away. I'm sure he would appreciate the feedback.

Thanks, I'll have to give Larry a shout and see if it is the same guy.

As far as the bolster/slab fit. I am talking about the slightest of imperfections (most people would not even notice), and you can not even really catch a fingernail in the height difference.

The edge is shaving sharp and is well suited for utility purposes (it will be a user), but I prefer a scalpel sharpness.

And yes, I believe that any maker should take this as constructive criticism, I know I would, and I'm quite sure a man of this talent will too. I see a long career ahead of this man if he so chooses.

Jailhack,
I met him at the recent Las Vegas Classic Show and was really impressed with his work. Good grinds and great filework. Nice prices, too.
Better mark him down on your "New Guys" list of up and comers. I did.

Thanks Kit. Any contact info?

, someone has to know if he lives in a shack or a mansion and where that place of residence is!! Am I going to have to call in the FBI to search for him?
