Here is my latest purchase. Got this one from Ryan at BlueLinegear. Great guy and great service! This is a Strider SMF-RW1, with the Ranger green G10 handles. Very Nice knife. I wont go into detail since everyone knows what they are and what not. This knife will be my hiking/camping folder knife from now on. I think I will EDC this one to work as well! Enjoy the pics.

I don't know much about Striders so pardon my ignorance; Is the tip supposed to be ground like that e.g. it starts off obtuse at the first point and ends up acute at the second point? thanks.
 
That is a cool knife. I like tanto blades when done correctly, that one looks awesome.
How sharp was that knife out of the package?

The Knife is pretty sharp! The area thats closer to the point is not as sharp though! Lethal regardless!
 
Nice knife - but I too have strayed from tanto blades.

Use it in good health.

+1 on all the points above,(how about those terse statements w/ no details!?? WTF!!?? Lol) Congrats! Looks like it'll keep your hand full. I never had an issue with a tanto lacking in utility as an edc...

The grind on the tip looks long and thin but you say it's not sharp? :confused:

Well, maybe it is, I haven't tried to slice paper with that certain edge yet. Im sure it'll slice flesh like butter though!

It won't slice flesh as good as my 8" chefs knife.

There are a lot of knives are like razors right near the handle and lose it a bit as they get near the tip.
NOw, 2nd question - How much does it weigh?
 
I tend not to like tantos, but I like the RW-1. The tip on Strider tantos aren't made to be that sharp. They were designed to have increased lateral strength for prying and stuff. Something that Strider said soldiers in urban warfare are needing more of. I believe the RW-1 was design specifically for Richard Marcinko, an ex-special operator, for one of his video games. Congrats:thumbup:
