I'm in need of a new knife. Fixed blade, strictly reserved for game care; field dressing, skinning, etc. Budget ~$100 Thanks guys.

and more!

"A. G. Russell™ Deer Hunter
We call it the Deer Hunter, but it is enough knife to field dress big Bear or Moose. Measures 8-1/4" with a 4" drop point blade of .080" thick D2 at 60-62 Rc. Weighs only 3.4 oz. Made in Japan.

You've got your choice of AUS-8, VG-10, and D-2 for blade steel. Personally, I'd go with VG-10.

Cotton,

How bout a custom knife from a maker right here in this forum. Go to the "knife maker for sale" forum and check them out. One of my personal favorite is Eddie White / Shadowknives. Here are a few that I have had him make for me for right at your budget target..

what does it look like?

This is a bit irrelevant to my thread but, it's a small fixed blade that says FINLAND on one side, with a little design to the left of the writing that looks like a flower or something. The blade also has a blood grove on both sides. The handle looks like wood, can't tell if it's real or not. And it has a leather sheath with a snap-close button.

it would probably help if you gave a little more input on what you are looking for. Things like blade shape, steel, handle material and overall length? do you want a gut hook? what do you mean by mainstream? you can't get more mainstream than a Buck, and the Cabelas s30v bucks are among the finest examples. Personally if i wanted a knife strictly for skinning i would go with this Cabela's A.G. Series Alpha Fixxed. it has a nice deep belly, a guthook, spine jimping and finger choil for a good grip, and s30v will hold an excellent edge, especially with the Bos HT.
if the extra $10 puts it outside your price range then you can check out the Zipper which is a little cheaper. Really it comes down to personal preference, but when someone says they want a knife strictly for field dressing/skinning a few things come to mind: a deep belly, a guthook, a non-slip handle, and a good steel that will not need to be resharpened 3 times to skin one animal. If those things are important to you then it would be hard to beat the Cabela's A.G. series buck knives IMO. If the s30v isn't all that important to you then you can pick up the regular buck Pro Line skinners for about $65 in buck's 420hc steel which many people still love.
