Here is my next project. 10" overall 5" blade 5" handle.
What do you guys think? Suggestions?

My question for you, what purpous would this be serving? It's kinda wierd, kinda cool I guess, can't quite figure it out. Do you have some sort of computer program you made that with?

Perhaps radius the corner where the spine is clipped to meet the tip? Might also look better with some sort of flourish on the end of the bolster (I personally like to round the front edges of the bolster for looks, then put a big chamfer along the rounded front edge both for looks and to allow for better pinch gripping). Otherwise it looks great! Just don't forget that CAD goggles are a thing  A lot of things in CAD end up looking much smaller in real life.

I'm not quite sure what it is. Vegetable dicer most likely. Funny thing is I was intending on drawing a hunter style and this is what I ended up with. And dont worry I fully realize that my drawings and my free hand grinding have totally different ideas of how the knife should look. I do have a chamfer on the front edge of the bolster its just not that obvious in the pic. Maybe I only used 30 degree. Cant remember now.

I don't usually CAD stuff that's not gonna get CNC'd somehow with a mill or water jet. I just like to cut out the middleman and go straight to cardboard for one-offs ;)
Though I guess you could make a SolidWorks drawing and print it out on paper and use that as a template, though I have had trouble in the past with things not printing at 100% size.

I think it's not the angle of your chamfer so much as how small it is. I see it now that you pointed it out but it's more like you've broken the corner so it's not going to cut you so much as putting a chamfer. Was mostly pointing out that it looks kinda like the front got chopped off because of how straight and square it is.

It is ugly as hell.
Just use your head and hand and draw a model, don't waste your time trying to mess with software that honestly takes many years to be able to use it effectively

Thanks- great advice. I have mastered this software years ago and can draw in it faster than I can hand sketch.

Yeah kitchen came to mind first with me as well. Id put that in my kitchen anytime. I kinda like the clipped point as well. Japanese looking:thumbup:

Looks like something to be found in a modern day kitchen, maybe even in a Japanese restaurant.

Why don't you make a knife to rival it then?

I like it 629. I thought for sure that you had a kitchen knife in mind when you designed it. A carbon fiber handle and titanium bolster would look unreal on it. It would complete the futuristic look you have going so far. Now go build it!

I dig it and kudos for sharing your work. Knife designs are plentiful and very different for a good reason. Never mind the naysayers that have no real constructive criticism, ahem, Ome108.

Shane- I think you are right. Carbon fiber and titanium would look great. Man you're really cutting into my material bdget with that though!!

Looks great. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that design.

If it's going to be a kitchen knife, perhaps try making it "plunge-less".

Longer would make it a better kitchen knife. Maybe you can make a whole set based on that design. I do have a question though about the top of the grind:

I would normally expect the top of the grind to go all through the knife at least to somewhere below the corner of the tip. Why not that or just grind all the way up to the whole spine and not just part of the spine.
