I've wanted a new one for some time. I thought I had it nailed with the never-available green cqc-7, but the easter bunny must have given them all to santa claus  . If I can't pick one out, maybe someone else can. When you stop laughing at my list, please give me an idea. I'm looking for a folder with:

3.5-4 in. blade of 154 cm/ ats-34/vg-10. I need to be able to sharpen it, but it should hold an edge better than aus-8.

micarta or g-10 handles-no metal. In some color besides black.

tip-up carry

a clip that won't destroy my clothes.

really tough,(nice grammar) as I beat my edc (endura) pretty bad. I will use it for dirty jobs, and mean jobs, and it should be able to sharpen a pencil.

some kind of self defense capabilities.

Is really light or slender. some things I'm willing to sacrifice, but some knives are too big in the pocket.

some new fangled locking mechanism that won't break.

ergonomic handles.

My girlfriend won't hate it.

"beautiful dreamer plays"
some of this stuff I'm pretty darn flexible on, so keep that in mind.
thanks, joe

I would consider Spyderco's Li'l Temperance Folder Leaf Point:

Blade Steel CPM(T) 440V
Blade Thickness 5/32" 4mm
Clip Metal clip with Indexing/control holes
Diam. Blade Hole 9/16" 14.5mm
Edge Type PlainEdge
Handle Material Green G-10
Length Blade 3" 76mm
Length Closed 4 1/2" 115mm
Length Cutting Edge 3" 77mm, 3 1/8" 79mm
Length Overall 7 3/16" 182mm
Weight 4.25oz 121g

Blade Steel's not what you wanting but the rest of the knife is close, and it's a great feeling knife that has a unique look to it.

Sorry to not have anything really constructive to offer besides the EKI knives with the green handles. However, try the lil' temperance yourself first. There have been stories on the SPyderco forum of that thing devouring pockets.

I saw an ad for the new Fallkniven folder in Tactical Knives latest issue. Judging by their other blades, you shouldn't go wrong with one of those.

Somehow your requirement just spells Spyderco for me.
However I don't guarantee that your GF would like a spydie...

It seems that most of Emerson's green handled knives, not just the CQC7, would fit your bill.

The SOCFK is cool, and I know you can get it with green handles, www.tacticaledge.com

It is kind of similar to the CQC7, but it has the wave, and the handles are incredibly ergonomic, almost like the Specwar. (The price is cheaper than most of Emerson's knives also)

I'm still undecided, but my gf is way more into spydies than the normal girl. she specifically banned me from emersons after we couldn't get the green cqc! thanks for the responses..
