New Knife, not quite right, Advice please.

I just got a brand new knife. I don't want to embarrass the manufacture / maker, so I won't mention them. It is a very nice knife. Simple design, will work great for what I want. It looks great, the sheath is simple, sturdy and tight.

Just one problem. The grind is way off. The edge is not even close to center of the spine. I don't think that this will effect the utility of the knife in any way. But, now that I've noticed it, it'll bug me to distraction.

So, my question is: Am I being to picky? Should I ignore it, and use the hell out of it anyways? How hard is it to center a grind? It could be a lot more difficult then I previously thought. Would this effect the performance of the knife? I'm not sure, but we have all sorts of single bevel ground knives out there. I'm personally not a big fan of "chisel ground" knives, and this thing is damn near to being one inadvertantly.

Finally, do I send it back?

If you bought it to use the hell out of it, why do you care about a cosmetic flaw? I mean, I don't know how bad that flaw is, but most off-center/uneven edges I've seen will go away after the first sharpening session.

Now if you wanted it to become a drawer/safe queen, I'd recommend sending it back.

I'm not talking about the edge grind. I'm talking about the taper of the blade from spine to edge.

Oh, I see. Well, I guess it's a bit like a chisel grind. Some people can't stand them, so it depends a bit on whether you're one of them. ;)
If it bothers you, send it back. How much did you pay for it?

I bought a Culloden from Cold Steel, and it had an uneven primary grind. Not what I expected because I bought it as a closeout, not a second. But I contacted Cold Steel and they gave me a discount on it and sent me a better sheath, too.

If it's OK as a user, ask for a rebate, or else send it back for another.

I asked because such imperfections should be expected in a sub-$40 blade IMO, but for 90 bucks you can expect a good grind. Sending it back would be totally justified, although you are the one who has to figure out if it's really necessary.
