Hi all,
I've wanted a knife with Desert Ironwood Burl for some time but wasn't sure what knife I wanted. Well after research, forum reading and especially listening to one of my favorite podcasts...The Knife Journal Podcast...I decided on a Bark River Loveless Style Classic Drop Point Hunter. I love the lines of the knife and thought its' size would be just about perfect for hiking carry. I first bought one with African Blackwood scales. I really liked the knife. It carried as I had hoped. The steel, A2, is very easy to sharpen though I had to learn how to sharpen/strop a convex edge. It takes a great edge and carves wood very nicely.
Based on that I sold off a few knives, on ebay, to finance a knife built the way I wanted. I read that BRKT was just working on a new batch of DPH's and to get an order in to your shop if you wanted one. I contacted Jason at DLT and ordered a DPH in A2 steel with Desert Ironwood Burl handle with mosiac pins. Well I got what I wanted. The BRKT people even added red liners, which I did not think about, that is a nice addition to the knife.
I've carried it several times hiking and it is a great knife for my needs and uses.
Here are a few pics, enjoy...I sure am.

Absolutely beautiful knife, buddy. Congrats on that one. Bark River definitely makes an awesome product.

That is gorgeous... even more because it's a user. My everyday FB is a BRKT, either an Essential or a Northstar EDC. Glad you got in on this run. BRKT is a great product and DLT is a fine bunch to deal with.

Thats Stunning I like desert ironwood and Maple burl fot smaller like less than 7in blade.
Yours is a beauty to behold. Congratulations

WOW....that is nice...whats the sheath look like ??...Im into carving walking sticks and I've been trying to think of a way to incorporate a fixed blade into a walking stick, just to try something different...that knife has the look im looking for...

Desert ironwood is the best looking handle material imo. How does it feel in hand, is it slippery?
I find it very comfortable in my hand. It swells in the middle and fits the palm nicely.
I don't find it slippery at all...I would not use it to gut and field dress a deer, etc...but for hiking and "monkey business" in the woods it is great.

The sheath is very well made. It was much lighter in shade when I got it. I've rubbed "leather lube" into it four times to soften/treat the leather and the "lube" darkened it. I prefer it darker...win win.

Great looking knife. I like Desert Ironwood myself and have used it on a few folders. Best of luck with a great purchase.
