This is a new photo just back from the lab taken by Carol.

The knife is a 3 1/2" drop point with meteorite bolsters, Mastodon Ivory scales, and fileworked on the spine.

It is a joint design with the customer and will be shipped Monday or Tuesday.

George,
Very nice/clean design. I am sure the customer will be pleased with the results. What type filework is on the spine?

Neil the rest of the piece of meteorite that I purchased is in the upper left corner of the photo. It is a Gibeon slice about 3/16" thick and shows a very dramatic pattern.

When I ship the knife I will send copies of the certificate of authenticity and the chemical analysis of the meteorite as well.
This should make am impressive package of documentation to show around when he is showing off his knife.

Thanks Phillip the pattern is from one of my other hunters, a very nice bird and trout model.

Just got back from the long weekend and I believe the time is right to step forward and identify myself as the one who has been working with George and Carol on the construction of this superb knife. This is my first year as a BFC member, but in that short time I've been extremely fortunate in the members of the custom knife community that I've come to know. My dealings with folks like Neil Blackwood, Larry Chew and Gary Hallberg have been first rate affairs all the way. To anyone who's a veteran of the custom knife world it's probably no surprise at all that my experiences with the Tichbournes have been more of the same.

Obviously the end result of George's quality work speaks for itself. But it's important to note that the behind the scenes aspect of working with the Tichbournes is equally impressive. This is certainly the most involved custom project I've been involved with thus far, and I'm happy to say that just working with George and Carol is at least as much fun as getting your new custom made knife. They put you at ease immediately and go out of their way to express their legitimate delight and desire to include your input into the creative process. Never have I felt more comfortable making suggestions or better yet, asking questions that highlighted my own ignorance in the ways of custom knifemaking. At every turn they exhibited tremendous patience and went to great lengths to ensure that I was aware of all the ramifications of every design decision that needed to be made.

And I think you'll agree that Carol's excellent photography beautifully complements George's outstanding skills as a craftsman. In fact, at several critical junctures in the design process, I was emailed highly detailed pictures like the ones above, to aid me in making my decisions. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that whenever I handle this fantastic knife at least half of my thoughts will devoted to remembering what a pleasure it was to work with the Tichbourne team.

Thanks Bronco, you neverknow how a customer spec'd knife will turn out when you start but I had a good feeling about this one right from the start. In fact so much so that I have decided to make another one up to take to the Central Texas Knife show in Austin on August 4,5,6th. The only difference will be the sterling pin layout in the bolster.

Take care now and wait patiently for the nice mailman.

George,
In a day and age where the concept of customer service has unfortunately lost much its original meaning, I think it's important to note those individuals who go the extra mile to connect with their customers. Despite the numerous other projects you're currently working on, throughout this entire process I've honestly felt as though I was your only customer. As far as I'm concerned, this, in and of itself, is a valuable commodity.

It's good to hear that my knife will have a brother out there making his debut in Texas this summer. I'm afraid though that once Chris and Marti Christman get their hands on number 2 it may never actually make it to the show.

George,
That's one fine looking knife that you've made.

Bronco, you might be right, your knife's brother is one knife we might not want to let go of.

Anytime you get to work with George and Carol Tichbourne, you feel like you have known them for years. We always enjoy visiting with George and Carol when we get a chance. They are just fun folks.

George, I can't wait until August at the Central Texas Knife Show so I can get my hands on that knife and several other Tichbourne knives (hehehe).
I look forward to the next Tichbourne creation.
