Since the last poll was clearly lacking some important entries, I think we should pull together a list of entries, then go through a few rounds, then a final round that pits the winners of the previous rounds together for the crown.

Revised list:

Busse Knife Group (Busse Combat/Swamp Rat/Scrap Yard)
Spyderco
Cold Steel
Chris Reeve
R.A.T.
Bark River
Fallkniven
Buck
Kershaw/ZT
Ka Bar
Benchmade
SOG
CRKT
Mcusta
Blade Tech
Queen
Case
Microtech
Mora
Becker

Who else should be included?

I would drop Busse and Chris Reeve, as they are more custom production than general production.

I would add Benchmade and SOG or CRKT.

i agree with APF.....drop CRK and Busse, add benchmade SOG.
u could even drop bark river but idk who would be added....

I wouldn;t drop BRKT. While some consider them to be a semi-custom production company, even that term is stretched to its limit and is used only to detail the quality and relative "rarity" of their offerings. Keep BRKT I say - they're clearly a production knife maker.

Wherever they are placed in the list, I think Benchmade and Spydrco should be placed side-by-side. Of all the prod. manufacturers, in my opinion, none rival another as closely as do these two.

Again, in my opinion, SOG, CRKT, and Cold Steel have such a propensity to be made foreign and, quite predictably, connot rival the quality of BM and Spyderco consistentlyas to be nowhere near them in the list (if in the list at all). Of course, maybe that's irrelevant because the poll will be to ask for favorite knifemakers, not necessarily the highest quality. Still, position in the list might be thought of.....

I'll stay with the same as I voted on abovde, Spyderco. The reason, because they are good even when no one is looking and offer more steels then anyone in the industry, and Sal is a heck of a nice guy! A combo that is just hard to beat!

Is this an election year thing where we need to decide on the "best" knife company? For me the best knife company would produce my perfect knife that I could afford and that would mean once I got that knife I'd never need another. I'm not even sure I know what my perfect knife would look like but my fun is in the endless search for it. Having just one favorite would totally defeat the purpose of being a knifenut! I have three companies that I always look at when I'm looking for a new knife and a handful of others when I'm just checking to see what's new that I might be interested in. My current three are Benchmade, Kershaw, and Spyderco (in no particular order) but I just purchased a new Becker Necker from Ka-Bar. Personally there's no way I could narrow things down to just one company. Could I throw in one vote each for my top 3?

Hey, Tango. I agree its hard to narrow it down to one, but I personally like the idea of seeing what people consider to be the best.

The way the poll system on the board works is that you can either keep it open (vote for as many as you like) or closed (vote for one).

Kershaw
Zero Tolerance
Chris Reeve
Dan Koster ("Custom" maker I know, but he does a lot of runs in multiples!)
RAT Cutlery
Busse
Benchmade
